I think they just need to use a few variations of the new theme.
The old one used to have a headline bed, title card, throw to break bed, sting, and closer that all were variations that made up the full theme.
The new one we seem to hear the same bit being played for eveything. The odd variation of it has snuck through though but hardly at all.
That short sting one though is stupid it is always too quick for the title card and doesn’t suit the presentation at all.
Time for some variations of the theme throughout the bulletin guys!
The problem is that the theme and opener don’t match. When will Seven learn that music is only one part of a larger package and that the whole thing is in need of updating?
It’d be nice if Seven went back to a unified look for all their services including the On Air Presentation similar how they used the the Gill Sans font in the early 2000s.
Meanwhile, Adelaide’s combined news & TT promo has stepped up a notch with glassy arrows and ‘7’ transitioning at the end. Looks quite nice IMO! Just need to do something about the live cross presentation (studio camera should extend lower over the super) and all would be swell. I guess if you wanted to be picky you could say the vision of Adelaide CBD when the VO says “your street, your suburb” isn’t quite right, but it still looks pretty good by Adelaide standards.
On a related note, it seems news and TT are now being packaged together such as with plugs for TT in the news when there is a story in TT that relates in some way to a news topic (which has happened more than once!) plus also saying “coming up this hour” rather than “coming up on Today Tonight”
At least it is not banging on about the main anchors like Sydney, so that is a positive sign. But yes, it is a really glossy, trustworthy and decent promo. As for the arrows transiting into a ‘7’, I really like the idea and should be used nationally. In fact, it reminds me of Seven Local News opener, a few years ago.

I suppose that is the only real way of get viewers t stick around. IIRC, Nine News Adelaide has gained some strength in the 6.30-7 timeslot.
It seems Seven News Perth is having some technical issues tonight. It cut out midway through Blake Johnson’s report, and there was a long pause when crossing to the next story.
I’m on the Gold Coast at the moment and caught the news tonight. All of the ads during the news featured Sharon and Bill. No sign of the two actually presenting tonight’s bulletin!
Three reasons for this that I would suggest.
They might have been promoting the weekday news for stories featuring during the week
Bill and Sharyn are the main anchors, so like Mark Ferguson and Peter Mitchell are unfortunately promoted as the only news presenters in the station.
Rod and Kay don’t need promoting. They are regularly and consistently rating number 1 on the weekends and as a duo have anchored 7 News Brisbane for approx. 13 years. As for Bill and Sharyn, the viewers need every bit of help. Actually maybe that is why Melissa Doyle, Chris Bath and Jennifer Keyte aren’y promoted for their weekend news reading gig, because they are so good! ( Yeah, right!)
I’m pretty sure that Mark Ferguson isn’t promoted just as the face of the news, but rather the face of Channel Seven Sydney as a whole! No other presenter at Seven Sydney gets the level of promotion that Fergo does, unfortunately.
