Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

Classy stuff from Seven Melbourne.

A very dodgy content decision by Seven News Melbourne.

Jodi Lee and Simon Pristel (in the highly unlikely chance either is reading): You should resign.

I’ve heard that if this continues to escalate disciplinary action will be taken. No staff member at the moment is appearing to be accountable nor has there been an apology. Executives are pissed off too because this is ruining Seven Melbourne’s already tarnished reputation in Melbourne.

Source?

Friend of a friend works there, but you can regard or disregard as you please

Yes, it’s damaging the entire network and brand now. Not just 7 Melbourne. Has been picked up by national media.

If Jodi Lee pitched this story, she needs to go.

I’ve been thinking for a long time now as to why Peter Mitchell and Jennifer Keyte are still in the same positions they were over 15 years ago?

Despite Seven News being beaten in the ratings.

I reckon it has something to do with the Seven Network winning Melbourne’s ratings? Maybe executives think ‘as long as Seven is number 1 in Melbourne, news doesn’t matter that much’?

Seven News Sydney has seen countless presenter changes, even Nine News Sydney and most other markets and networks.

Some may not agree with that and it’s just a thought, but wouldn’t Seven have sacked the presenters by now?

Get her and the rest of the Newsroom out incl the CoS.

I associate the Seven News Melbourne audience with Teens (Not including me) and people that have nothing else to do in their days but to post rubbish from Seven on Facebook…

Disclaimer: I did have past minor associations with GTV9 but the options of this post are mine and therefore not bias towards Nine.

Given Seven has one of the biggest Over 55s shares, both metro and regional, you’re surely taking the piss?

Most of the under 20s I see have liked or even shared stuff off Seven News Melbourne on Facebook.

That doesn’t mean they’re the ones watching the bulletin though.

Disgusting. Heads should roll for putting someone like that in TV without properly explaining their history.

From a Sydney perspective, I get the general impression that Seven News in this market is mainly popular with people who live in the Western suburbs, are aged over 45 and are also likely to have The Daily Telegraph and/or 2GB as a major part of their media diets.

Aside from those who have to put up with it in the background while eating dinner because their elders watch it, I can’t imagine there being many young people in Sydney who’d actively watch Seven News!

Why? Did Nine sack Peter Hitchener for those years Nine came second? No point just sacking people because they’re ranked 2nd. And then if they are sacked, then what? Cause an upheaval which can have worse results? Look at Mal Walden at Seven in 1987. He was coming 3rd in a three horse race but look what happened there, Seven ended up getting beaten by SBS.

I agree about the Facebook posts. I always see people tagging friends on Seven News but hardly ever have I seen Nine News.

Hopefully never

From my experience, people I know in the 16-24 demographic rarely watch FTA at all, let alone the news.
They also just share news from whichever Facebook page they see the story on, rather than specifically picking one network.

The vast majority in the age group couldn’t care less if the story comes from 7 News, 9 News, 10 News, whatever, it’s the content they pay attention to (which is determined by Facebook), not where it comes from.
