Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

I personally think it will be different, they might even take an influence from what channel 9 is offering. I think Melbourne only had a replica of Sydney’s set all these years is because Melbourne was a backup and the morning news and afternoon news when national was presented from there if need be… since Sydney got there new set we haven’t seen a national Melbourne based broadcast due to various reasons. But mainly cuz afternoon news is local and there are enough presenters in Sydney now.

I’m just praying (hard) that the design has been outsourced and that the Sydney team has been involved. The local team in Melbourne does not have a great track record when it comes to creating things that look good and have some impact (ie social media graphics, poorly conceived title graphics, weak promos etc).

A refined version of the Sydney set could look fantastic.

The old 2008 set was good tho.

A refined version of Sydney/national news set with a few Nine-inspired elements would probably be OK for Seven News Melbourne, but knowing Seven I wouldn’t be overly surprised if it still doesn’t look more impressive than Nine News’ current set(s).

In any case, I really think that some of the smaller markets need new news sets (and other investments, like HD upgrades) from Seven sooner or later. Although it looks OK-ish, Adelaide’s current news set is almost four years old and probably could do with some form of refresh. As for Seven’s current news sets in Perth, Brisbane/Gold Coast, Regional Queensland…I really don’t know what you can say about those.

Seven’s set here in Regional Queensland is one that I’d consider to be extremely dated.
Unfortunately though, it’s still far better than Nine’s regional set…

CONFIRMED: Seven News Melbourne new set is planned to go to air Sunday Jan 28, after the Tennis, if technical difficulties don’t occur. This way the local Afternoon News can still air on the following day, without spoiling the new look.

Fantastic to see Seven continuing with local news at 4pm. Nine have really dropped the ball, last 2 weeks was a bit exceptional however they should have started back by now.

This seems to be going to extreme lengths by Seven News Perth RE: Ben Cousins released.

The short vision wasn’t very clear anyway.

I see that Seven News is maintaining their standards of top quality investigative journalism…

Give it a few years and we’ll probably be seeing a blank screen with a full screen disclaimer like “Footage Exclusive to Seven News at 6pm and The West Australian - watch/buy that to see the pictures” (for example) instead of the footage! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You’re so right!

I guess programs like news & ACA, etc already do “see the pictures tonight on…”

When are we going to see these ‘Mark Ferguson returns’ promos? Isn’t it a bit delayed at this point?
