Of course that’s true, but the fact that Sydney’s 6pm has moved to green screen presentation at a time when studio broadcasts will be limited (pretty much only Seven News Sydney and maybe Seven Early News will be from Martin Place next week) due to the Australian Open and OBs for Sunrise does raise some questions.
Does anyone remember whether or not Seven News was temporarily relegated to green screen presentation before the Sunrise relaunch in 2010?
The current Seven News Sydney/National set was first launched (in it’s original form) back on February 14, 2011 - approximately one year and three weeks after the 2010 Sunrise launch.

They can do the news from the studio in Eveleigh can’t they? Haven’t they done that before?
Here is a green screen in Martin Place Natalie Barr is using for the Early News, so it is likely that is where Mark was last night.
I am watching Sunrise this morning, as they are touring the demolished set. We’ll see about Seven News…
Hmm…I suppose that now leads to the inevitable question. Has the Seven News set just been pulled out to make way for Sunrise’s new set and will return later or is it being thrown out in favour of a new set?
Personally, I hope it’s the latter of course but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens I suppose!
Seven Early News was this morning presented from a green screen set-up in the Seven Boardroom; from a weather segment on Sunrise, in the Seven Newsroom there was a few other green screens set up… hmmm
That’s a very good question… I know a whole new set of monitors and a tech upgrade has happened. I wonder if that was to reduce the footprint of the control room meaning more studio floorspace? or it could feature as part of a new news set

Could be nice backdrop to the national news.
Very true and could be very self-efficient, especially for the Morning News. The set would only have to be small with glass panels covering the control and that would be it. Weather is from Melbourne and sport would be from the video wall which I am sure they will keep. Obviously wouldn’t be suitable for Sydney news at 6pm.
Presuming that there’s new graphics to go with this updated Sydney/national set, I’m sure that In-Program Promotional Tickers for Seven News will be part of the new package.
