Seven News Content and Appearance (2015-2020)

I know a lot of people have criticized Seven for all the blue in the graphics. But wouldn’t everything look like ‘Breaking News’ if we had everything red?

Nine had completely red graphics in 2011.

Wish Seven News Perth’s studio would follow something in the line of this. Because their ‘green screen’ broadcast is terrible and miles away from Nine’s new studio (plus it looks similar in a sense).

Seven Perth really stuffed it up imo. Virtual sets are on the way out and a wall of screens is the new thing. Nothing beats an actual set, both the worst set in the country and the best set in the country is in Perth.

What kind of update ender graphic is Seven News Sydney using these days for its news updates? Is there one for Michael Usher?

Awful live cross on Melbourne tonight. Jacqui Felgate holding on to a horse being fed by someone else next to her, obviously trying to keep it under control. Just looked ridiculous.

I believe that the same Update Endtag of Mark Ferguson has been used for all updates since February, although they probably should update it since they’re not even using that backdrop loop (which I’m glad they ditched, since it was really awful) anymore! They added a “Seven News, Australia’s #1” voiceover sometime more recently but that’s about it.

Hilarious moment on 7’s Melbourne bulletin. A woman just dived into reporter Estelle Grispink and tried to wrestle her microphone from her live on air. Someone was seen to drag the woman away and the reporter carried on with her cross. Have to admit she did well to battle on.

All I can say is well done to Seven this year for snatching the title of ‘Australia’s No.1 news’ from Nine. Although their revamp was met by a mixed response from the MediaSpy community, I think they did well to secure national victory for 2016, with major improvements in both Sydney and Melbourne. Now all they need to do is to dump Ferguson and change the Western Sydney focus from Sydney, change their shitty globe backdrop on the national bulletin, and get a new set in Perth (make it really modern like Nine’s set).

Why dump Freguson now? He won the battle last night and notches up wins here and there. I’d say he’s doing pretty well. Does he read Friday nights? Georgie Gardner never seems to win on Fridays.

No Michael Usher does.

Yes I agree he is doing much better than before, but he is just not the right person to lead Seven News Sydney to defeat Nine.
She tied with Michael Usher last Friday, but was defeated in the second half. But true she hasn’t really scored much of a win since Michael Usher debuted on Seven.

Something going on in Adelaide tonight … the plasmas screens went black and the audio cut out half way during the wide shot and voice over.

Only a minor hiccup though as the graphics (supers, 7 news bug) are still working and the throw to the first story went without fault.

Georgie Gardner used to win every Friday easily against Chris Bath, Melissa Doyle and Chris Reason. Yes both Mark Ferguson and Michael Usher have done well on Fridays evenings BUT then if Georgie’s the problem for Nine News why does she still win on Saturdays? Because there is no The Chase.

…and on the flipside, it’s quite arguable that Seven News Sydney struggles in the ratings on Saturday nights because they thought it would be a good idea to move their successful longtime local 5.30pm Saturday program (one which I believe has helped the ratings of Seven’s Saturday night Sydney 6pm news in the past) to boost the ratings of Seven Sydney’s struggling Sunday night bulletin.

Well this feels like a first… Perth getting 4.00 Afternoon News from the Queensland studios instead of the National Bulletin from Martin Place.

Perth got Brissy local news during the floods of 2011. It’s definitely a rare occurrence though! @Biscuit45

Ah ok  I wish our Perth 4.30 Local News was as polished as the National and Queensland bulletins. Oh well! :stuck_out_tongue:
Well Perth’s must be pretty bad. Queensland has got an awful set, awful backdrop, awful presenter (IMO) and awful content.
