Was pretty loose and casual.
@TelevisionAU was ATN7 1959 morning news show the first that we can traceback?
Possibly. ATN7’s Today, which began in October 1958, I think was the first weekday or daily morning news program. Although GTV9 did have In Melbourne Today from October 1957 that aired only on Saturdays (7.30-10.30am), hosted by Geoff Corke. From what I gather it was a mix of news headlines, weather reports, magazine segments, a children’s segment and variety/music acts.

Loved that VO guy
Seven should consider themselves lucky they pounced on Shane Webcke after his retirement from rugby league at the end of the 2006 season (in which the Broncos won their sixth and most recent premiership).
In fact, Webcke’s appointment was announced the day after the Grand Final; I recall Pat Welsh presenting that night’s sports bulletin (Monday 2 October 2006) from Red Hill.
To my knowledge, TVQ has no former AFL or NRL players among their on-air talent, though at or around the same time Webcke was signed up by Seven, Michael Voss was hired by Ten to present its sport on the Queensland news bulletin, replacing Brad McEwan who relocated to Sydney.
Sharyn Ghidella did the same thing in her first few years at Seven - presenting the news on Weekend Sunrise in Sydney and then flying back to Brisbane for Seven News at 6:00pm.
Real Life premiere in 1992?
yes Cross Country was a rival to Landline. It aired on various regional stations when launched in the late 1980s, but as aggregation rolled out it was seen on Prime and Seven-aligned stations (it was produced at NEN Tamworth).
When was it axed? If I remember it lasted well into the 90s and probably into the 2000’s it seemed to disappear from the schedule out of the blue as it was on very early on weekends.
