Seven Network 2020

Seven applied for a trademark for Songstruck last week. Another singing show?

Could it be an overseas format Seven acquired from MIPCOM?

@blackbox eluded to another 7 signing show on his podcast a while back which they were already working on, Iā€™d say this is it.

Didnā€™t know the name of it but yes, heard there was a singing show coming.

Sounds like a version of Songland that aired on NBC?

I think someone at Seven will be reworking the presentation for next weekā€™s upfronts, after seeing the events at 10 last week and Nine today. Compared with its commercial rivals, Seven doesnā€™t have much to offer to advertisers next year, apart from Tokyo Olympics, AFL, summer of cricket, Bevan Leeā€™s Between Two Worlds, the return of Big Brother, My Kitchen Rules and House Rules (with changes still continuing).

Well I didnā€™t think 9 or 10
actually had much that was new either to be honest

Nines parent jury, i can defenitley see Seven coming up with their own parenting format !

General programming in particular.

Itā€™s not like 9 or 10 have something that exciting to offer advertisers either.

Theyā€™ve already done it a few years agoā€¦

Nine just has a suite of programming that rates reliably throughout the entire year, strong early evening news programming and appealing summer and winter sports. Nothing much for advertisers to be excited about.

I meant in terms of their new programming. The rest is the same old.

Because they only copy shows from other channels now?

Most of Nineā€™s reality offerings are a lot fresher than the stale, recycled formats Seven and Ten are dishing up year after year. Rather than take a chance on new formats, like Nine has with Lego Masters and Ninja Warrior, Seven and Ten keep taking the safe, risk averse option of tinkering with formats that have worked in the past but donā€™t necessarily excite viewers.

More expectations about a new Seven cooking show.

TV Tonight hears whispers Seven will confirm suped-up mini golf contest Holey Moley from Eureka Productions -with Aussie contestants doing battle on the course constructed for the US ABC network.

Like the sounds of this. Something different and something new rather than a new cooking show or copied lego show.

The Olympics should help 7 win the ratings year next year but the show offerings are disappointing
