It depends on how they were let go and what the terms were. Usually there’s a 12 month period that an employee made redundant cannot apply for another job within the company unless they were offered another role at the time of redundancy.
From what I hear a lot of people who have left Seven wouldn’t want to go back… that’s because of management and the overall vibe and happiness of employees there.
Well, as alluded to, they kind of up-rooted the place at Docklands. Unless you were close with Lewis Martin or maybe Seven News or Seven Sport, staff from other departments or associated teams that were destroyed there probably wouldn’t be rushing back, no.
Radio Today reports that Alice James will take up a publicity role at Seven at her hometown of Melbourne, after quitting as EP of Triple M Adelaide’s Roo & Ditts breakfast show.
News Corp reports Seven Melbourne is rumoured to relocate from its Docklands home of 21 years (corner of La Trobe Street and Harbour Esplanade) to a new 34-storey tower at Melbourne Quarter precinct (south east part of Docklands) next year. The building is being developed by Lendlease. The overall precinct consists of three next-generation office towers, two apartment towers and retail facilities, with the television station to move into the flagship tower.
It’s been a while since Docklands departure was first announced/rumoured (6 years ago?), in that time Seven’s entire network playout department previously located within (‘BCM’) packed up, left and relocated (along with Nine) to “NPC Media” in Sydney.
Although I think that was a previous situation to this new development. Wasn’t there talk of the AFL purchasing the site (located adjacent to the now AFL owned-Marvel Stadium and has been convenient for Seven since 2007 with productions).
Yes, there was talk of them relocating with the AFL HQ a few years back. With Sydney now moved, the network is now looking at its Melbourne operations.
