Seven Melbourne

I knew most of the names MelbTV was talking about above, but probably wouldn’t have been able to recognise some of them in more casual clothing compared to the formal stuff they’d wear on the news! :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course, but we have to keep in mind this is a local event. If this was to go out national, yes national presenters/faces would we brought in.

Jacquie Felgate already has a national presence as she is part of Seven’s AFL coverage.

As for the others, I’m only familiar with David Woiwood. He’s been with WIN News Victoria and 10 News Melbourne prior to Seven. Even as a Victorian I have no idea who the others are.

You don’t know who Blake Johnson is?

I must admit his face looks familiar, so does Melina. I’m guessing they’re both Seven News reporters?

I don’t watch Seven News much, I consume GTV News way more. I can tell you all about Allan Raskall, Clint Stanaway, Seb Costello, Dougall Beatty, Nyrie Ty, etc.
But as for what’s happening over at HSV- Peter Mitchell, Jane Bunn and Whispy Watson about all I can recall.

I’m surprised they haven’t cut this?

Although it could be a paid presentation by the city of Melbourne?

But good connection opportunity with the local community … to appear very “Melbourne”. Like the Ekka in Brissie…

Most likely with presenters Peter Mitchell, Jacqueline Felgate and Jane Bunn hosting this year’s parade.

Yep, the City of Melbourne gives Seven Melbourne money to show the parade.

That’s why a certain weather presenter was made Queen of Moomba last year!

Seven Melbourne won’t be showing the city’s New Year’s Eve fireworks this year after the event was cancelled by the Melbourne City Council due to COVID-19. Instead, a series of dinner events will be held from December 31 to January 1.

Good news - according to David Knox’s newsletter from TV Tonight, Seven will be restoring a publicist in Melbourne (and Brisbane too).

Hopefully this will help turn the station’s fortunes around.

There has clearly been a massive gap with no publicity department in Melbourne. This is a critical area for any commercial station trying to connect with its local market.
Good to see this department make a come back along with Brisbane.

It said “hiring”, I wonder if that means they won’t reinstate a former employee who lost their job, but rather employ someone new. Good decision, but still a shame for those once long-serving who may not return. Melbourne lost tons (think it was reported to be in the hundreds) the last few years, of course when the national play-out component/positions at BCM were also lost (when the facility shifted to Sydney - though some key/senior staff did remain/move).

Also, I believe Seven Melbourne has had at least one publicist, but for Seven Sport. So yes, local productions or anything local non-sport was having to be done out of Sydney.

Most likely, because it’s probably cheaper that way…
