Seven HD

Short answer, no.

It is up to Prime or the relevant regional affiliate to roll out the infrastructure, not Seven.

I think TV_Addict was referring to regional QLD which is owned and operated by seven.

I think you will find that most people don’t really care about Seven HD’s treatement and excellent coverage to provide AFL (but its the only way that it can be done). I think the only ones that care - is the ones don’t care about footy. But then jif you care about HD go and watch HD conent online - I’m sure you can afford it . It’s the way everything is going on, pretty soon normal television will be the non-normal.

Just wish they did it now. There is no reason to delay flicking the switch though.

And if you don’t have a ratings box Seven aren’t going to care anyway

I definitely watch Seven (Prime7) less because it’s SD here, and I refuse to watch Ten because of WIN’s huge mappy abomination; HD/SD may not impact viewership on a large scale but it does for at least some viewers.

Sadly true.

Yes there is; the whinging from the likes of us! The longer they keep the main channel HD the better.

True. Nor do any of the other networks.

Only if & when they lose ratings periods, then they may start asking why.

Honestly, they don’t care about us. LOL they have never will. :stuck_out_tongue: TV format has changing, and Channel 7 have made the deal to time share the HD channel for certain states with the AFL.

:stuck_out_tongue: Maybe they are doing this to annoy you specifically? Who’s actually written to channel 7 or phone them and complained about this issue? I doubt anyone has.

If you wanna watch crappy tv shows in HD get foxtel or netflix :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s about choice. I prefer to view HD programs - there’s nothing in particular that I like or dislike about 7 News (apart from advertorials disguised as news reports). I guess you could liken it to a ā€˜fine print’ photographic magazine and a poor photocopy of the same. I know which one I’d be reading. Call it ridiculous if you want, I just feel in 2017 that technology has progressed beyond low res SD.

Yes, I know. I forgot the emoji in my quick post.

No, I’m not paranoid, and yes I have complained (to Prime7 about their lack of 7HD, and to WIN about the huge solid deplorable mappy), and Netflix has some good stuff on it (as well as a fair amount of so-so stuff).

As said before, I’ll prefer to watch something in HD, so 9News over 7News, Netflix in HD without ads over broadcast SD channels with ads.

I endured mediocre fortuitous analogue television reception throughout most of my childhood and never thought I’d turn into someone who whinged about picture quality. I was always happy to receive a snowy but watchable picture. Now that we’ve been enjoying crystal clear HD for a number of years you certainly notice the difference in the viewing experience and it’s very difficult to accept anything less.

Australian networks have shown nothing but contempt for viewers in recent years with idiotic scheduling and by failing to provide the best quality viewing experience. Surely the boffins at Seven must be wondering why the audience, particularly those in the desired demographic, is shrinking? The decision to deny viewers the most popular programming in HD is yet another FU to the audience. When there are ways to enjoy your favourite shows in glorious HD without all the promotional crap on screen why wouldn’t you seek them out?

Not sure which has the better picture quality, Plus7 or 7 SD. They are both pretty average.

I know that when I look at Nine HD especially the Today Show is is super crisp even on my old tv and 9Now is great HD quality too, all on my 720p tv and my parent’s older one.

Also wondering if Southern Cross going HD will make Seven reconsider things in the other areas.[/quote]I very much doubt it. Seven wouldn’t really care what Southern Cross are doing in their licence areas. Seven will do what Seven wants to do.

It’s like watching 4:3 content on Gem/9Gem when it was the HD service. :expressionless: Who knew B&W movies were in crystal clear High Definition! :astonished:

If they are restored from the original components and scanned at a high resolution they will most definitely be in high definition. I’ve watched Casablanca on Gem HD in high definition in past years.

I can’t imagine the difference between SD and HD being particularly noticeable when in black and white.

I have my doubts that the ones I saw were restored though. :slightly_smiling_face:

The original post was to example a movie on 7HD that should have been destroyed rather than restored. Some of these midday movies are in very poor condition.

Understood. I reckon most of their midday movies would’ve been played to death. I know I’ve seen one in the guides in particular that’s always played a few times a year.

Much like the channels of the WIN Network, they should be destroyed for being of such poor quailty (particularly Eleven). :yum:
