… and Norfolk Island. Afaik, all television is MPEG-4 but there is no HD.

So who broadcasts out there?

Imparja?? Prime?? WIN???

I think Norfolk Island comes under VAST coverage via satellite so it would get ABC, SBS, Imparja (9), Southern Cross (7) and Ten Central.

Well no DVB-T services there at the moment and the closest high powered TX site is Mt Nardi at 170kW.

Yikes.

Is it possible in many years time , tv transmitters will all disappear and all broadcast tv will be via the internet in some form or another ?

You could run all tv through say a gigabit connection perhaps. HD/SD etc.

Don’t know a lot about it really.

Inevitable.

Does anyone know what 7hd live stream web address is Thanks in advance

There is no stream of 7HD. They only have streams of their SD channels.

The EPG for 7HD Sydney is showing TBA for 9:00pm next Monday while Seven is showing the Closing Ceremony replay, and there is no information for 7HD from Midnight. Not a good indication that the simulcast will continue as we were hoping. So back to 7mate as was stated it seems.

Will Seven continue to broadcast in HD after the Olympics?

Only in Melbourne & Adelaide.:disappointed:

I think it’s a well established fact by now that Seven is currently only doing a HD simulcast of it’s main channel in Sydney, Brisbane/Gold Coast and Perth for the Rio Olympics and that LCN-70 will switch back to 7mateHD next week.

Personally, I think it’s a ridiculous strategy but Seven’s reasoning for the two tier system is so everyone can watch AFL in HD…or something like that.

Just flicked back to 7SD and had forgotten how terrible the quality is.

Ah well, was planning to watch The Block and Aussie Survivor from next week anyway so hopefully Seven can figure 7HD out in time for the tennis.

Yep, I would almost go as far as saying that the Plus7 online streaming (which is what, only something like 504p at the very most?) has better picture quality than the SD broadcast on terrestrial TV! :open_mouth:

I remain optimistic that Seven plan to run a HD simulcast of the main channel in all markets for significant sporting events not affected by AFL like the Spring Racing Carnival, the golf tournaments around November/Early December and the Summer of Tennis. But until then, it’s easy enough for me to mainly just watch Nine and Ten HD after this week since I really don’t watch all that much on Seven!

They have stated that they will switch the HD feed for other major events too… so I would think a similar situation of 70 being the main channel in all cities is probable for the Australian Open - potentially even for the Spring Racing Carnival and maybe the rest of the AFL off-season.

I was hoping to see Zumbo’s Just Desserts in HD considering how good the promos look on 7HD. Oh well I suppose that won’t happen in Sydney. :frowning:
