You honestly donât know what would have happened. There may well have been a split HD channel with an AFL breakaway, but who knows as it didnât happen.
Whatâs the HD like on 7Mate in regional Qld ? Or has this been mentioned somewhere in the Rio threadâŚ

I canât comment on regional Qld but via SCTV in Tas itâs quite sharp, just struggling with an ordinary bitrate on some scenes.

we still have to protect private contact details. Whoever youâve written to at AFL may not appreciate their contact details being distributed in a public forum. You can post screenshots provided you either blur out the senderâs/recipientâs personal details or cut them out altogether.

That has nothing about AFL broadcasts in Sydney and that Sydney would not have the main channel in HD for the Olympics if discussions between the AFL and Seven were not fruitful.
Thanks for that - clearly the AFL has nothing to fall back on given that Seven has gone ahead and done what suits them despite the attempts to keep games in HD.
Knowing the poor ratings that AFL matches even with local teams get on 7mate in Sydney, they may as well leave the main channel in HD after the Olympics. The majority of dedicated AFL fans in Sydney probably have access to Fox Footy HD anyway!

I was a massive fan of the Swans back in the Capper, Swanettes, Edelsten era. But I only went to the games at the SCG as it is the only way to watch AFL, couldnât watch it on television as you miss too much of the game.

Well, considering NRL rates like 6k on GEM in MelbourneâŚ
AFL rating 25-40k (some games as high as 70k) on 7Mate in Sydney looks pretty good 
Regardless, Seven Network & AFL are in a massive contract and even more so over the next 6 years, so Olympics was always going to be an issue/problemâŚ
I thought you lived in Regional QLD? Canât you check on your TV?
In Townsville 7mate is great quality, very sharp and clear, about on par with SC 9HD.
