They’d have to simulcast it on 7mate due to anti-siphoning laws. Sadly Home Shopping is more important to Prime than HD Opening Ceremony.
AFL will be in SD in Perth for the next two weeks as 7mate becomes a temporary SD channel for the Games. 7HD is the main channel from 6-22 August

Seven have an exemption, otherwise they couldn’t do the multichanneled coverage on 7two/mate.
Each event held as part of the Summer Olympic Games, including the Opening Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony, except for:
(a) any event held between 6 August 2016 and 22 August 2016 (Australian time) as part of the 2016 Summer
Olympic Games, including the Opening Ceremony and the Closing Ceremony.

This happens every Friday night. The AFL coverage always goes for about 30 mins longer than the EPG timing, then the next shows are out of sync.

Good to see Better Homes and Gardens and QLD Weekender in full HD on 7 Brisbane. Sadly looks like all news out of the Brisbane studios are SD still 
Don’t worry, even here in Sydney it appears that Seven only their studio cameras & some graphics in HD on the news. 
Also, we’re currently getting Border Security which definitely looks like an SD episode from years ago!

Any possibilty of Seven deciding to keep 7HD the simulcast of the main channel or is it confirmed it will turn back to 7mateHD?
Confirmed it’s only for the Olympics.
Goes straight back to 7mate HD once the Olympics are over.

The NFL will be in HD on 7mate in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth while Melbourne and Adelaide gets it in SD
Hopefully Seven eventually come to their senses and do a full time simulcast of the main channel in HD (or at least one that’s on outside of the AFL season, surely they won’t continue with the Seven/7mate HD split during the AFL off-season of October to March when there’s no need for it? 
) for all markets.

Regional Victoria are getting the Bulldogs v Kangaroos in HD on 7mate via Prime. It’s in HD properly because it’s a Seven produced game.

I’m 99% sure that 7mate in the metro markets would be broadcasting in 576i SD.
