I thought that Seven Queensland only used LCN-70 as a redirect to the main channel (as per what metro markets had before May this year), unless that has since changed.
You might be right it says on mine 70 for the Ch 7 , 71 for Ch 7 again , 72 for 7 Two, 73 for 7Mate and 76 for 7 Flix with Racing.com as 78.
For us to get 7 in HD would that involve changing to MPEG-4 for 70 with 73 going down to SD? . Wouldnāt they have to do what SC did and order "equipment from Europe " Iām guessing unless this has been done in the past few weeks already .
See what happens next week I guess.
Seven HD will be 7 and not 7mateHD for Sydney, Brisbane and Perth viewers from midnight next Friday.
Take a deep breath everyone pankicking that the Opening Ceremony wonāt be in HD in these markets. Wouldāve been a PR disaster if the latter was 7HD in three capital cities
Hopefully, a HD simulcast of Sevenās main channel will be permanently available in the current 7mateHD markets (apart from possibly AFL) after the Olympics, but I wonāt hold my breath for that to be the case.
Letās hope it stays that way for good.
I agree.
I am a bit nervous that Syd/Bris/Per will get shunted back to 7mate HD post Olyomics to keep the AFL happy.
I hope regional Qld is set up for MPEG-4 HD . It was never mentioned on that tweet on the Rio thread but it will suck if the opening ceremony is only HD in the capital cities.
Edit:Just did a check on my EPG and it has the opening ceremony on 7Mate only .
Edit again: Whoops that was Olympians Off The Recordā¦ shows the opening ceremony in SD ā¦
Donāt get too stressed about us here in Regional QLD @TV_Addict.
We donāt yet have a dedicated 7 HD channel to check the EPG for.
LCN70 is currently just a simulcast of LCN7, so thereās no point in checking the EPG for 70 yet, as itās just gonna show you whatever is shown on 7/71.
7QLD is owned and operated by Seven themselves, and so far weāve received every new channel at the exact same time as the capital cities, so if this proper 7HD broadcast does go ahead in all 7 metro markets, itās a high likelihood itāll happen for us too.
Of course everything is set up. Racing.com is currently MPEG-4, and until recently 7Flix was too.
Seven HD will be Seven nationally until August 22 when it will return to the current configuration.
Why not have the primary channel 7 HD as the HD channel after the Olympics or after the AFL is over at least thenā¦not this two tiered system .OkI have asked before what is broadcasting on what and Iām not asking that againā¦ just trying to get my head around why they have a two tiered system.
Is the two tiered system just so SA. NT and WA get to see the AFL at the same time in HD? So what happens if they put the AFL on 7 HD instead then nationally would it mean Perth would see it at 5.30pm ? Or have I got it totally wrong ā¦I mean what is stopping them from having the AFL in HD on the main channel everywhere and moving Better Homes to 7 Two ?
What happens in Sydney and Brisbane if during the Olympics there is an AFL Game (I donāt watch AFL so not sure if there are any games coming up ) which channel will the sport be on ?
The AFL canāt be on the main channel everywhere since it would rate poorly in NSW & QLD while the primetime games clash with Seven News in WA. Itās why in those states AFL mostly (use that word since some day games air on Seven in Perth) airs on 7mate and hence why thatās the HD channel which we can say without doubt following the TV Tonight article is to ensure AFL can be seen in all states in HD.
Ok then after the AFL season is over I wonder then if they would switch it to HD on the main channel everywhere ā¦ Iām assuming in that case there would be no reason not to .
So does Nine do similar split programming with Gem then and any sport ?
Stupid.
It > is to ensure AFL can be seen in all states in HD.
But more people watch Sunrise, The Chase, 7 News, Home and Away, MKR, 800 Words etc than the AFL in Sydney and Brisbane/Gold Coast. WAY more. Why not put your most popular shows in HD?
Does the AFL have that much power over 7?
The $'s have the power over 7.
800 Words is HD on Presto but looks like a soft type of HD.
The clash with 7 News in Perthā¦ couldnāt they run the news earlier then ?
Run it on 7TWO like what happens in Melbourne once a year and then run it on 7.
How bloody ridiculous!?!
This whole two tiered HD system is complete bullshit!
QLD and NSW have to sacrifice getting 7 in HD just so the minority (in those two states) can watch the AFL in HD.
Itās a bloody ridiculous system!
Given that itās gonna switch back after the Olympics, Iād doubt that 7QLD would bother launching a 7HD channel now
When are we likely to see 7 hd in all states permanently (except Olympics)
The ABC is going to beat 7 to national HD of its main channel then depending on what 7 does after the AFL season ā¦
So it seems I will have to live in a capital city to be privileged enough to see HD coverage of the opening ceremony, whilst in the same state but in a regional area I will see a SD broadcast .Unless they are planning on putting the opening ceremony on 7 Mate for regional Qld then ?
