Seven HD

In Sydney, I’m still getting the 7mate EPG on Ch 70.

Perth same as Sydney

Ditto Brisbane.

A switchover in time for the Olympics is on the cards.

I’ll believe that when I see some sort of press release or formal announcement from Seven.

But aside from that…now that Seven are simulcasting AFL games that actually air in Perth on the main channel in HD, I wonder if LCN 70 is still (mostly) a simulcast of 7mate outside of the AFL broadcasts?

7HD Adelaide now has a small “HD” below the Olympic-style watermark. Could this be a sign of a coming nation-wide switch to the main Seven feed for the Olympics?

@Nick Beat me to it!

I would have thought the HD would look better next to the 7, as the 7, olympic rings and HD elements together make the watermark too vertically skewed, IMO. Or maybe it was intentional, as if you read the watermark from top to bottom it reads Channel 7’s (Rio) Olympics in HD

Here’s a cap:

Interesting. Quite a tacky looking addition IMO!

There’s currently no HD addition to the watermark on 7mateHD Sydney, make of that what you will.

Yes, but yours is much better quality!

With the current positioning of the watermark, placing the “HD” next to the seven logo would have placed it too far over to the right, AND they would have and to use effort to resize the rings to make it balanced. I hope once the Olympics are over we will get a better quality watermark (and with luck, a half decent logo)

I’d have thought they’d have done it the same way they add the location names to the regional Queensland channels.

If they did that, then what would they do when 7HD comes to regional QLD (for viewers’ sakes, hopefully very soon).

7HD in Sydney is a simulcast of 7 Sydney from Midnight next Friday night, just in time for the Olympics.

Just checked the EPG in Perth and 7HD starts 12:04 Friday morning.

What about regional Qld - shouldn’t it be easy to switch that on as well ? considering the network owns the channel up here ? Or does that have nothing to do with it.

Another question that comes to mind, will this HD channel ,say for example in Perth, continue after the Olympics.

What EPG is being referred to in the Rio thread ?.. just the one that appears on a tv ? or an online one

Personally, I would wait for EPG data/TV guide listings for more than a few days worth of programing and more importantly, a press release or some type of formal announcement from Seven (including some news articles from credible sources to go along with it) before saying that the switch to Seven HD in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth next Saturday at midnight is a certainty. And even if Seven does switch the feed of it’s main channel in most markets next Friday night/Saturday morning, how do we know that it’s not a temporary switch for the Olympics?

While I certainly hope that Seven will broadcast it’s main channel here in Sydney for the Rio Olympics (or better yet, joining Nine and Ten who have been running a HD version of their main channel for several months now), lets not get too overexcited Media Spy!

I’ll wait for the DeciderTV article to come out to confirm … not

As far as I know, Seven HD will launch across Queensland simultaneously, except for in Ayr, near Townsville.

Edit: woah them fascist mods back at it

I agree. The EPG is a good sign though.

Foxtel guide still shows 7mate programming on 7HD in Sydney for Saturday week.

I think I’ll go with the EPG. Seven already stated their Olympics coverage would be on 7HD channel 70 and they never stated it would be a simulcast of 7mate, so the assumption is it is a main channel simulcast. I jumped on board thinking they wouldn’t do it, but the evidence is that they are.

I’m just checked on my TV and it seems we are also on the ch 70 here in Central Qld . Fingers crossed for HD .
