May have just flicked the switch in Melbourne then - would make sense given no announcement, and it’s a Tuesday morning…
Promos seem to be SD, which is a little disappointing.

Launch imminent by the end of the month. Seven could go HD by the end of the week.Its getting closer. Would rather have major events in HD on the main channel
No fanfare. No press release. Just the flick of the switch. We will indeed be seeing the Olympics in HD. Is 7HD permitted to show different events to 7.

Hmm…so that explains the LCN name change last week!
If I’m not mistaken, testing for RACING.COM (and also 4ME too, if I’m not mistaken) was initially Melbourne-only before those channels started in every market. Knowing where Seven Network broadcast control is located for all O&O markets (if I’m not mistaken), it probably makes sense that Melbourne is the “test market” for this sort of thing.
I’m sure that within coming days/weeks, we’ll see a similar changeover happen in other Seven O&O markets like Sydney.

Yeah, I remember reading on the old forums that there was Melbourne-only testing for 4ME (but with no video/audio stream) like a day or so before the channel launched.
I would assume MPEG4 without even asking. Nine HD and Ten HD are in MPEG4 and since Seven are already running two channels (4ME and RACING.COM) in that format…

Seven HD Sydney is now on air! 
Further update: Actually, “7HD Sydney” is still broadcasting 7mate at the moment. But there IS an SD stream of the channel currently broadcasting.
