Isn’t Geelong apart of the Melbourne TV market anyway?

The bitrates in Brisbane at the moment are - 10 minute average

7 Brisbane 2.40
7Two 3.49
7Mate 3.01
7HD 6.12
74Me1.45
7Flix 1.38
Racing ?

The freeview guide now has the 7HD logo from many moons ago online.

I presume that ā€œ7HD Brisbaneā€ is currently simulcasting 7mate?

Reports of lynch mobs in Ayr (near Townsville). Might spread to Geelong (near Melbourne).

Seven has confirmed to afl.com.au that 7HD will officially launch this weekend. However here’s the interesting twist we didn’t see coming:
For fans in Melbourne and Adelaide, the 7HD channel will simulcast the network’s main channel for AFL broadcasts.

For viewers in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane, 7HD will simulcast 7mate, which is the primary home for AFL telecasts in those cities.
Interesting. Not too sure that’s the right move though unless Seven pulls their finger out and simulcasts Fox Footy matches in HD?

No change here in regional Qld. 7 still the same lineup .

Ahh, now it makes a bit more sense.

Although the LCN name is still a bit confusing though. If the intention is to fully simulcast the channel that broadcasts AFL in HD, then why not have the LCN name as ā€œ7mate HDā€ for the Sydney, Brisbane and Perth HD channels?

Because the simulcast will just be while the AFL is on.

I am not a supporter of this idea. NSW and Qld would much rather see the main channel fully simulcast.

Not sure. I thought that but checking yahoo guide it seems the northern states 7HD is a copy of 7 Mate where as in the southern stated it’s a simulcast of 7SD.

Edit : Perth seems to be 7 mate as well

Yeah, I’m not so sure about the idea either.

I can understand that Seven and/or the AFL want all markets to see the AFL in HD, but wouldn’t a better solution for Sydney and Brisbane be to simulcast the main channel most of the time, but breakaway for AFL matches in HD instead of whatever filler programing that’s on? Not a perfect solution by any means, but surely having the AFL in HD with normal main channel programing the rest of the time for Sydney/Brisbane/Perth is a better use of bandwidth than having all/most premium main channel programing in SD-only while rather niche programing like Outback Truckers is shown in HD?

Maybe give them time … Perhaps that is the longer term idea

What do Melbourne viewers currently have on 70?

Perth will have 7HD during the Olympics

What will be shown in Sydney and Brisbane on 7HD between 7pm and 7.30pm? The current schedule has Better Homes and Gardens on the main channel and AFL pre-game show on 7mate (before 7HD re-started today).

Not happening in perth yet strange

It will take time to roll out

So if I’ve read correctly, 7HD in Brisbane is a HD simulcast of 7mate? Or will 7HD be a simulcast of the main channel, but switch to the AFL when it is being televised?
