Seven AFL Coverage

The benefit is to Foxtel who have it live. From next year there may only be 3 games on FTA most weeks.

Move to Sydney :slightly_smiling:

Live coverage, and in HD

I don’t believe in paying so much money for essentially sports and repeats.

Planning the move now :stuck_out_tongue:. I might just pay for the streaming.

they had to show it on delay, as the contract states. They can’t change it. If the respected team from the state was interstate then it would be live.

if Channel Ten doesn’t come to it, which Gillon McLachlan expects Ten to come to the party then it will give more free-to-air games then the current deal in place. If they don’t then it will be 3.5 games on average. Its not “most” its 11 or 12 games on saturday arvo, which is just under half or over half.

It was live last week? Both Geelong and Essendon are not in South Australia…

This has been in place for the last 5 years surely people would know that for f… Sake

What has been in place???

The Victorian delay on Saturday afternoon games. Ten did this well before Seven picked up the rights.

How will Channel 10 not coming to the party create more games on FTA? Best result as I see it will be status quo with regards to number of FTA games each round i.e 4 but with the odd Saturday afternoon game live when Seven don’t have a Thursday night match.

If people read posts you would have noticed im talking about the coverage into south australia. Also as i said last weeks match on saturday was not delayed.

Ive just realised it wasnt delayed because it had adelaide involved. Still is a stupid contract. Rather them not air it at all.

I said it will give more FTA games if Channel Ten does come to the party. You may want to include a match for Saturday afternoon as Good Friday isn’t even confirmed yet as being part of a permanent fixture.

Gillon McLachlan said this at the Press Club. Did I hear correctly, that Gill said 5.5 FTA games

From next season, Seven will produce 3.5 games per round. The .5 comes from the fact that there will be some rounds when they’ll produce four games (around public holidays or as part of TNF) and some rounds where they’ll produce only three games.

Seven won’t have rights to the Saturday afternoon 3:20pm EST (currently 1:45pm EST) game as part of the new deal - that goes to Fox Footy/News Corp who will produce 5.5 games per round & have the right to sub-license that game if they wish. If they do that, it means there will still be 4 games shown on FTA per round (outside Melbourne the amount will be higher in some rounds [page 13] so that NSW/QLD/SA/WA viewers can see their local teams)

Most clear explanation this far, thank you. Still reliant on a FTA picking up that Foxtel game but good to see that live if they do. Still, this is a worse situation for FTA in Melbourne than it should be. If my team plays interstate on a Saturday or Sunday I am unlikely to see them on FTA, when going to the game is not an option. they’re playing today, live on 7, no use to me, I’m going to the game.

Just watching AFL Game Day. A tone better than nines Sunday footy show. But Brad Sewell struggles a little. You could tell he was reading an autocue. I also don’t understand why they would have two Hawthorn players on the show. Would be a little better if they could mix it up a bit. The other week they had Bernie Vince, Rory Sloane and Brenton Sanderson - all who played/coached for the crows a few years back. Perhaps would have been better for them to have a better mix that week as well.

Gee… Hamish McLachlan has had a busy weekend!

His wife gave birth on Thursday or Friday.

Called Saturday arvo solo.

Now he’s calling Sunday arvo (where’s Bruce McAvaney this round, horse racing coverage?)

Bruce wasn’t involved in the horse racing coverage yesterday.

Bruce doesn’t call Sunday’s anymore. But he missed Friday night.
