Seven AFL Coverage

Saturdays have been pretty ordinary the past few weeks.

No doubt plenty of recycled movies on Seven in Sydney on Friday and Saturday night that will easily beat the AFL on 7mate.

Just saw another version of the promo (which @JohnsonTV mentioned), where Bruce McAvaney is stuck in Melbourne traffic and Marcus Bontempelli (a hero of last year’s fairytale GF) fills-in

Classic!

AFLW: Crows and Demons in hunt for Grand Final spot on Seven

Saturday 6.30pm AEDT

The Adelaide Crows face Melbourne in a high stakes clash as both vie to remain in contention for a coveted spot in the AFLW’s inaugural Grand Final.

The Demons will need to win their last two matches to keep their chances of a Grand Final berth alive, while a victory this weekend for the Crows should be enough to secure their spot in the season decider.

Adelaide suffered their first defeat last week to rivals the Brisbane Lions who have taken out top spot from the Crows. It was a nail-biting showdown with Sarah Perkins putting her best boot forward to kick two goals for the Crows, while Erin Phillips continued to showcase her versatility gathering plenty of the ball.

Melbourne also had a tight battle against the GWS Giants but fell short of their fourth win by five points. Karen Paxman and Melbourne captain Daisy Pearce have been powerhouses all season and continued to show their dominance on the field but with only one goal and nine behinds, the Demons’ hard work could not get them over the line.

Jason Bennett and Mark Soderstrom will call this week’s match with Michelle Cowan in expert commentary. Sam Lane will take up field commentary continuing to bring stories and insights from the coaches and players.

Seven will broadcast the AFLW Grand Final live and exclusive on Saturday March 25, the first weekend of the men’s competition.

Seven is the leading free-to-air sports broadcaster in Australia and will broadcast live coverage every Saturday night during the AFL women’s season throughout 2017, having been the first broadcaster to air women’s AFL back in 2015.

Broadcast times:
Saturday March 11
Sydney 6.30pm LIVE on 7mate
Melbourne 6.30pm LIVE on 7mate
Brisbane 5.30pm LIVE on 7mate
Adelaide 6.00pm LIVE on 7mate, 6.30pm LIVE on Channel 7
Perth 3.30pm LIVE on 7mate

First time in 12.5 years that a national league game (men’s or women’s) from Darwin is on national FTA TV.

all games in perth Thursday and Friday nights will have basil and not Bruce one would think going on previous years

Matt Richardson Will do Friday & Saturday boundary rider reports, according to Facebook.

Do we know the expert commentators & boundary riders yet?

What about ‘Footy Central’ host (at BCM) on Saturday nights? Now that Basil’s gone.

What about the Saturday night pre-game show? Still Darce, Sam, Mick, Richo & Lingy?

Otherwise a good commentary team, a nice refresh for the next 6 years, BT alongside Bruce will see him tone it down :+1:

With Hamish doing Sunday Games who is likely to host Game Day

Boy oh boy wowee

Why wouldn’t Hamish host it still?

There’s hours before he’s required for Sunday Football?

For example, Seven will produce the round 1 match between Adelaide and GWS on Sunday March 26. It’s not possible for Hamish to host Game Day then fly to Adelaide to be ready for the preview show at 2.30pm AEDT.

Okay, point taken.

But I would think senior people at Seven Sport (as well as Hamish himself) would still like him to host Game Day?

I am sure Hamish would love to host Game Day except on the days Seven is producing a match outside Victoria.

Could they actually take GameDay on the road, have a live audience at Adelaide Oval R1 for example?

There’s only 3 games that 7 are scheduled to show on Sunday that aren’t Melbourne based, one of these is the China game which may be a studio call, the other is in Launceston in Round 21.

That’s a good idea.

3AW and MMM will also likely do the China game from the Melbourne studio too.
