HSV7 finally increasing its local production.
I’m assuming this will take the The Talking Footy time slot.

Good to see and really overdue and should be a bare minimum for a rights holder and premiership network. I think it shouldn’t go up against Footy Classified and also not clash with the back-end of the week too much (where ‘analysis’ and reviewing last round is almost out of mind) as Front Bar and next round approach (especially with more Thursday night games and FB usually moved to Wednesday). So that leaves Sunday, Monday or Tuesday nights, IMO Sunday night is out as Seven wouldn’t want their long-running successful 7mate line-up affected, however Monday (the former Talking Footy timeslot) or Tuesday would be good, I’d also like to see it not as early, like a 9pm would be ideal, also caching various viewers who’d watch from the reality show timeslots.
Cotchin announced this morning that he would retire at the end of this AFL season.
The first promo for the new show aired. Just had ‘coming soon’ ‘talking finals’

Looks like Jason Bennett will call tonight’s game, so he’s either replacing Luke Darcy or Hamish
Luke Darcy was doing special comments on Triple M this afternoon, so perhaps he might want to have tonight off
Looks like I might be wrong?
You can see both Luke & Hamish in this video

Maybe Bennett might be hosting a function at the ground?
Most likely given where he’s standing in that tweet. Carlton Presidents function I’d guess.
7Plus haven’t cut-off the AFL feed in Melbourne due to 7mate (which was pre coded as Movie: “The Time Machine”) due to FIFA over-run. In breach of current rights deal and Foxtel/Binge won’t be happy LOL @TV.Cynic
They’ve now noticed.
AFL now on main channel in Melbourne. It is still on 7mate too
The 7mate simulcast finished at 8.38pm AEST, with coverage continuing on main channel in Melbourne and Adelaide.
Small teaser promo just aired for Talking Finals, featuring the logo but no other information. That appears to confirm the recent rumour about the new show.
Melbourne went to The Time Machine, scheduled to follow is another movie Underworld: Blood Wars and there was another movie to follow that Point of No Return which will be past midnight if it even airs.

The Final Four
Seven’s new AFL show The Final Four premieres
Thursday 31 August
Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth 09:30 PM
Sydney, Brisbane 10:30 PM
It runs 30 minutes and immediately follows The Front Bar in all markets.
19:30 would’ve been better, but it’ll be good to see if TFB viewers will hang around.
They’re thinking it’ll retain a lot/some of that audience, however I think it is actually the opposite. The light entertainment footy viewers are different to your analytical/news driven football shows. Yes, you’ll have some (like myself) who enjoy both and routine viewing, although this year disrupted due to Wimbledon, Ashes, Swimming and Women’s World Cup. But I reckon this could really backfire. Should’ve tried the 7mate 7:30pm Monday slot again, although they’re obviously putting more into this for main channel treatment and thus expect bigger exposure/results.
