Seven AFL Coverage

We might as well replace you with a bot posting the same statement over and over again - we get it, you dont like Foxtel and you dont like the current AFL deal.

Seven Sport still produce each round’s biggest / feature matches, as well as Brownlow, all finals and the GF (latter they air live exclusively).

7 might not have them exclusively but they do get to sell ads on Fox simulcasts during QT, half time and 3QT breaks.

No not really. They get the billboard (a show promo) coming back to QT and 3QT.

@4KSports is correct. As of the 2020 season, Seven controls Fox Footy’s ad inventory during the games when they’re the host broadcaster.

Wow, didn’t know that. I would assume this would just be for the actual Foxtel broadcast, not Kayo? As I’ve seen Foxtel channel ads on Kayo.

They still have Fox promos. In between those is the 7 sponsored advertisements. The same ads are seen via Kayo.

Seems to only be JB, BT and Tim Watson on the coverage today. Did something happen?

Jimmy Bartel is sideline.

Why are Channel 7 only producing two AFL matches this weekend?

It’s because Mother’s Day is this Sunday, so there are two matches on Friday night, and five matches on Saturday.

Are they not allowed to play on Mother’s Day?

They are allowed to play on Mother’s Day, it’s just then many fans prefer to spend the afternoon with family rather than going to the footy, so attendances at matches on this day are usually lower.

From memory the last time(s) had a poor crowd, maybe even the ratings?

So channel 7 lose money for football broadcasts on Mother’s Day?

Channel 7 are the host broadcaster for 77 out of 198 home and away matches.

When you add public holidays, Thursday nights and bye rounds. You do get the occasional inconsistent allocation of weekly matches with the Sunday arvo fixture the first to go.

Split second of 7 Perth feed (not taking Seven Sport’s but rather another game Fox Footy’s broadcast with a local team featured) at 6:40pm local time from 7Plus, before it cuts to Border filler. Due to not having live stream rights.

Seven News there was also solo tonight with Susannah, probably because of the shorter edition.

And will be interesting to see @TV.Cynic if OzTam let them get away with only having 10min as the “6:30” portion tonight.

A twilight GF means it will go head to head with the Bledisloe Cup match between New Zealand and Australia from Auckland (5.05pm AEST kickoff).
