Seven AFL Coverage

Yes if I want to pay extra

I must say that that yesterdays combination of Jason Bennett & Hamish McLachlan was better than I was expecting it to be. Seems like anyone partnered up with Bennett does a good job

Changing schedules is going to be a bit of a risk for a while to come.

Its good to see the AFL back the women’s game in this way, even if it comes as an inconvenience to the men’s game.

Have they dumped Jacqui Felgate’s Footy Central on Thursday and Friday nights? Seems to have returned to when Basil Zempilas did it 2012-2015 as just on Saturdays as a match whip-around.

A big achievement to Buddy Franklin - kicking his 1,000th goal.

The atmosphere was great. Crowd would have been excited in running onto the ground for the celebrations.

Seven did a great job covering the event’s run.

Geez. The the game is still going on… :stuck_out_tongue:

Jokes aside. The game finished at 11.03pm.

it will be interesting to see the television ratings for the match - especially the post-match segment (10.30-11pm aedt) which in reality would be the “Buddy 1000th Goal Segment”. Overnight ratings are usually preliminary and updated at a later time.

Armchair Experts was supposed to start officially 3 minutes ago, but it has never started on time during its entirety. lol.

Apart from the camera angle of the actual 1000th goal being blocked by a supporter’s head…

Agreed! - Channel 7’s coverage during the night was great apart from the reverse angle camera for the biggest AFL moment of the millennium :frowning: They just should of stuck with the traditional broadcast side camera where fans standing wouldn’t of been an issue.

Love the drone shots of the SCG too!

Overall incredible night for footy and Buddy!

I think they should of done this but I understand what they were trying to do. Show the ball go through the middle, following the kick etc.

But maybe they should of swapped to the other angle when the fan was kind of in the way before the kick began

They’ll definitely have to adjust the codings, numbers will be all over the place. 10:25pm to 11pm or something was all the Buddy Franklin 1000 goal stuff. Might have to exclude it from the match and make that the post game, while splicing the final 5min at 11pm into the match? @TV.Cynic

Seven must be kicking themselves they didnt switch the feed over to Channel 7 in Sydney for the occasion, horrible programming choice there (contrary to it nornally being the right decision commercially).

The reverse angle ruined the coverage

I get the feeling that reverse angle was a client request (either 7 or the AFL) hence why the director stayed with the shot for so long.

Stupid woman got in the way and ruined it. I agree it was the right shot choice but she ruined it.

You’re very harsh, likely wouldn’t have a clue her noggin was in the way. Criticise the director for staying with that angle, it’s not like she was about to sit down and miss her view of the moment.

No I know. I’m just annoyed.

Why do they keep stuffing around with the Adelaide times? I get Seven News got extended to an hour there and it’s important to the network, but so is the AFL and in that market. Sometimes starts at 6:30, or 7, sometimes on 7mate or half-and-half, or in the case of tonight 6:55? Why?? When match didn’t begin until 7:10pm local. Even guides had 7pm local (only EPG had 7:25pm in Melbourne or 6:55pm there, where they did the V/O intro package, so maybe they requested extra time?)

Because it actually means Seven News durations are all over the shop there and confuses viewers. Should just keep it to a 30min bulletin on Saturdays and never finish until on the half hour and stick to the main channel not this 7mate stuff. As always use to be the broadcast deal.

Yeah, that’s where the blame should go but I know the director will be feeling pretty shit - you only get one shot at those things, so they’ll be cross with themselves.

I don’t get the hubbub. You see the ball the entire time that shot is on the air.
