After a monster opening round, football’s #1 commentary team is back, calling from stadia across the country for what is shaping up to be a historic round of football, live and free on the Seven Network.

All eyes will be on Sydney’s Lance Franklin this weekend as he targets his 1000th career goal against Geelong on Friday Night Footy from 7.00pm AEDT – a milestone that only five players before him have achieved. With four goals to go until the monumental moment, footy fans will not want to be anywhere else than Seven, Your Home of Sport.

With unprecedented access to the man more affectionately known as Buddy, Seven will take fans live to the historic moment when he cracks 1000, likely in front of a Sydney-strong crowd this Friday night at the SCG.

Fans can tune into the Friday Night Footy half-time break as the Seven team sit down with Franklin’s former Premiership coach, Alistair Clarkson, and current coach, John Longmire, for an exclusive inside-look at the man behind the 996 goals.

Returning for Thursday Night Footy this week, footy fans will be treated to another unmissable clash when the Western Bulldogs and Carlton face off on Thursday Night at Marvel Stadium, from 7.00pm AEDT on Seven.

Following his incredible return to the field in Round One, Seven will celebrate Sam Docherty’s inspirational journey following his second cancer diagnosis, with an exclusive sit-down with the former Blues captain alongside his teammates during the half-time break on Thursday Night Footy.

Football’s #1 commentary team will receive a boost this week, when Hamish McLachlan returns to call live on Thursday night, while new faces Shaun Burgoyne and Chris Johnson return for the Port Adelaide v Hawks and Richmond v GWS Giants clashes respectively.

Fresh off his Round One effort where he kept Lance Franklin to one goal, Phil Davis steps into the commentary box to call Friday’s Sydney v Geelong clash, where he will provide first- hand expert insight into the countdown to Buddy’s 1000ᵗʰ.

Apple75 is talking serious analysis shows with current players and coaches as guests, similar to Sunday Footy Show, Footy Classified and AFL 360.

Incorrect, the match isn’t at the Holden Centre it’s at the AIA Centre

*AIA Centre now

Same place, just has got a new name now.

Incorrect - at least according to the fixture, it’s at Vic Park.

Besides, the Holden/AIA Centre is the indoor training complex. The field you play on is Olympic Park Oval.

Yes, but it is referred to as being at the “AIA Centre”.

This Sunday (March 27), Perth viewers will get a two-hour highlights package of North Melbourne v West Coast at 1pm, followed by live telecast of Fremantle v St Kilda at 3pm. Both are produced by Fox Footy.
The Kangaroos clash is one of three West Coast matches this year that are shown on 3-hour delay, under the current broadcast deal.

Thursday will probably be Hamish McLachlan & Jason Bennett

What is that?

I reckon this might be similar to how Nine condensed the Sunday 2:10pm match into a two-hour highlights package for the 4:00pm timeslot, which followed the live 1:10pm match. Though I may be wrong…

That’s what the online guide says. If not for the Dockers-Saints match which follow, it will have been a full, 3-hour long replay of Kangaroos v Eagles (which starts at 10.10am Perth time).

I remember those days, if my memory serves me right usually it would short highlights of the first quarter and maybe part of the second but the rest was pretty much in full.

That sounded kinda right, it would’ve been impossible for Nine to cram a full match into two hours without omitting the opener, half-time, etc.

Though I think Fox Footy (the old channel, that is) would show a full replay of that match later in its schedule, long after it was actually played.

They could fit a replay of the whole game into a 2 hour timeslot by cutting all ad breaks (30 sec after each goal, quarter and half time).

I know that’s never going to happen as Seven are a commercial network but it’s technically possible.

This might be a stupid question, but prime time (eastern) Fox Footy produced games can never be delayed for Adelaide and Perth can they? Otherwise they would be airing at some ridiculous time like 1am in the morning! Hence always day time games. But kind of sucks for Foxtel, as night gets the most eyeballs.

Great to see featuring of the non VIC teams. Are seven doing the extra Saturday game on 7+ this season?

The AFL this afternoon announced the fixture for AFLW preliminary finals next Saturday, April 2:
Melbourne v Brisbane Lions/Collingwood (MCG, 12.40pm AEDT)
Adelaide v Fremantle (Adelaide Oval, 2.40pm AEDT)

The men’s GWS v Gold Coast match originally scheduled for 1:10pm on the Saturday of the AFLW preliminary final will be moved to 4:35pm so as to not clash.

Slightly off topic, can you change the return flight? It’s not too late.
