Seven AFL Coverage

Brilliant broadcasting.

I feel if it was BT or JB they probably would of been talking about it rather than staying quite and amplifying the moment.

Good point, especially with BT, the moment has to all be about him (his appearance in the current AFL-themed Coles ad being a good example). Jason Bennett is a good old fashioned commentator in the style of Tim Lane or Peter Landy who realises that sometimes less is more.

He elevates most of his co-commentators too imo. BT for example is far better with Bennett than when he’s not.

So 3 games of AFL and No sign of Hamish …… Strange.

I think the press release that was posted here said he would be calling a ‘raft of blockbuster games’ so I think he will only be calling some select games

I missed that info

Did Seven leave him in Beijing?

No longer as I suspected. Haven’t heard him on air in any capacity for months.

Seven is hosting tonight’s Brisbane v Port Adelaide match coverage from The Gabba, instead of a Melbourne studio.
Wayne Carey will now provide special comments on Saturday night games.

He is at the Gabba today

So tonight is probably Alister Nicholson & Luke Darcy doing ‘pbp’ with Wayne Carey & Shaun Burgoyne in ‘special comments’

Strange no coverage of the game in Perth on FTA tonight.

I think that’s because of the games tmr being on FTA in WA

No sure what you mean

Crows vs Freo & Eagles vs Suns are on FTA in Perth. So this game is not.

If 7 produce 4 games in a weekend and none contain a local side, generally one of the games gets dropped from the schedule to keep it to a maximum of 5 on FTA (3 non-state and two in-state). Not sure if 5 is a hard cap enforced by the broadcast agreement between 7 and Fox, but seems to be a pretty hard and fast rule.

Thx for that - Perth would have had 6 games on FTA in round 1.

Is this the first time 7 has used Grey for Port Adelaide? I know last year they used the teal even when they were wearing black and only changed towards the end of the season

So why has Hamish gone from hosting Thurs/Fri nights and commentating to Saturday nights each week, to basically nothing?
