Looks like the press release and Sunrise promo above was indeed an error, disappointing but not surprising.

Not anymore. The match has been postponed due to COVID-19 Health and Safety Protcols after a number of Collingwood players have tested positive or are in isolation as household close contacts.

I think they are trying to build an audience for the season, and for the Front Bar, in the northern states. Ratings for shows starting after 8.30pm are relatively low anyway these days so I guess they wouldn’t lose much of an audience just running the AFL instead of Border Security repeats.
At least they are trying different things, unlike Nine which does next to nothing in terms of promoting its NRL coverage outside of NSW/QLD.

They feel very low-budget web stream.
At 5pm (WA Time), Channel 7 Perth abruptly ended the coverage and headed straight to The Chase Australia. 7mate picked the telecast from 5pm onwards until finish. Unfortunately, there was no channel warning sign on the screen.

I wonder if SA viewers will face the same situation this Sunday (no channel warning sign) with Seven’s telecast of Adelaide v Fremantle which is a Fox Footy production. It starts on main channel at 3.30pm before moving to 7mate at 6pm, during the final quarter. I think Seven should have left the entire match on the main channel until 6.30pm, then 30 minutes of news, and Dancing with the Stars at 7pm.

If its a close match surely the network can make the decision to override the planned schedule and delay the news…
At least Richo is interviewing a player after the full-time siren went (and Shaun Burgoyne interviewing someone too), instead of going straight to The Front Bar. I wonder how long this “post-match segment” will go for…
