Seven AFL Coverage

Who do people think will be the PbP callers for 7’s Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday matches?

The experts will change around each week but the PbP callers should remain consistent

The ground-breaking deal will offer viewers access to nearly 200 live matches across the WAFL League, Colts and Women’s competition.

Expanded free-to-air television coverage of the WAFL will see 26 matches broadcast live and free on Channel 7, enabling viewers to watch a game each week during the home and away season, every WAFL Final, plus the Colts and Women’s League Grand Finals.

All 72 WAFL League matches not shown on Channel 7 will be exclusively live and free for viewers via the AFL app or AFL on demand service.

Additionally, in partnership with Seven West Media, every WAFL Colts game and a WAFLW League game of the week will be live streamed via the newly launched Streamer platform.

Good job picking the most impossible to Bing name for a platform.

According to Thursday’s Herald Sun, former Melbourne captain Nathan Jones is set to feature in Seven’s AFL coverage at various times this year. Jones already provided special comments during a couple of AFLW matches this season, and will balance his media commitments with a new career in property development.

EDIT: the late start of the Lions-Pies qualifying final poses a programming dilemma for Seven Sydney, given 7mate will show the AFL Sydney derby from 5pm (produced by Fox Footy) and 7TWO will pick up horse racing coverage from main channel also at 5pm.

Coverage on 7Plus? That’s new for this year but long overdue.

Has Seven changed tactics and will show tonight’s season opener in full on main channel in Sydney? It has scheduled Home and Away at 7pm and Highway Patrol at 7.30pm.
Also Seven has got incorrect broadcast times for the AFLW qualifying finals this Saturday. I think there will have an amendment later today or tomorrow.

I was confused by that too. They showed 7+ on a sunrise promo too

With this and the season preview press release, it really feels like McLachlan has had a demotion of some sort. I suppose we’ll see how true that is as the season progresses.

With Kayo now taking the Foxtel feed, it leaves a gap in the market for ad-filled streaming coverage from 7.

The info in that press release is out of date.
7 changed their mind on airing the full game on the main channel in Sydney and now will only show the 2nd half, in line with Brisbane.

Still find it odd that Seven will show the first half on 7mate and the second half on Seven’s main channel in Sydney and Brisbane. But then again, its not much different when sports air before 6pm and we have to switch over when the news starts.

I can understand them airing The Front Bar in Sydney, even if parts of the show having a “post game segment”.

But still, why are they showing it on the main channel in Brisbane and Sydney? To me it doesn’t make sense. :man_shrugging:

Seven made an amendment today for the AFLW qualifying final telecast in Sydney. Kangaroos v Dockers will be on 7mate at 2pm, but Lions v Pies will be on 7flix at 4pm.

Considering that part of tonight’s game is also airing on the main channel in Perth when it would normally air entirely on 7mate, perhaps the AFL and/or Seven wanted the season opener to get main channel exposure.

I’m confused too considering the version of the press release TV Blackbox published on their website doesn’t list 7Plus availability for the matches.

As such, not sure whether Seven made a mistake and were only meant to list 7Plus for the AFLW qualifying matches or whether TVB received a different press release than the one TV Cynic/Media Spy did.

7AFL Twitter make no mention of 7plus tonight unlike when mentioning AFLW broadcasts.

I’d say it’s an incorrect press release much like when they announced all WA/SA teams games to be “live” and free in own market.
