Excuse you. Peppa Pig is a gripping serial involving a nuclear family in a modern society.
As someone in that category of 16-39 watching Peppa Pig, I can state I would much rather watch the AFL but my 2 year old disagrees.
Don’t forget Fox Footy simulcast in this agreement.
Which discussion are you referring to?
It is a fair point if you add Sevens coverage with 7mates and foxtels it rates around the same, just a little lower (which is to be considered when a side has lost 10 minutes into the first quarter), as ten’s coverage back in 2009.
I think having programming on 7 vs 7mate will make a SMALL difference to ratings, as for people who are looking for some “background” TV will be more likely to find something suited to that purpose if it’s on the main channel as:
(a) the main channels are more prominently listed in TV guides
(b) I don’t think people would necessarily channel surf all the way up to the 70-99 channel range just to find something to watch.
###Round 6
It’s a top-of-the-table clash on Friday Night Football as the Bulldogs take on the Kangaroos.
Seven will be hosting all night from the North Melbourne rooms, while livewire Kangaroos veteran Brent Harvey will be mic’d up in the pre-game. At half time we catch up with injured Bulldogs duo Matt Suckling and Jason Johannisen to find out when the Bulldog faithful can expect to see them back out on the field.
Saturday Night Footy sees the Cats host the Suns at Simonds Stadium having never lost there to the visitors. Discovered features twins Geelong’s Jake Kolodjashnij and Gold Coast’s Kade Kolodjashnij, who play each other for the first time in this clash.
On Saturday Arvo Footy, the in-form Demons trek across town to Etihad Stadium aiming to break a 12-game losing streak to the Saints. We’ll feature Melbourne first-gamer Christian Petracca and his long journey back from a knee reconstruction.
Coming back from their upset win in Perth, Carlton take on Essendon at the MCG. After his outstanding game last week, we caught up with Carlton’s Kade Simpson to refelect back on his 247-game career.
###Round 7
The embattled Tigers face the reigning premiers on Friday Night Football, having beaten the Hawks in three of the last four clashes. Hawks superstar Cyril Rioli and his cousin Richmond small forward Daniel Rioli feature ahead of their first AFL clash against each other.
Saturday Night Footy promises a finals-like clash as the firepower of the Crows’ forwards meets the dash of the Bulldogs. We have a special inner sanctum feature on the Bulldogs at their team meetings and quarter and three quarter time huddles. Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley and Hawks livewire Paul Puopolo also join us live on the panel.
Traditional foes Collingwood and Carlton lock horns at the MCG on Saturday Arvo Footy with the Blues coming off two wins and the Magpies in patchy form. Hamish McLachlan goes one-on-one with Carlton coach Brendon Bolton to talk about his senior coaching experience this season.
Sunday Football sees top-of-the-ladder North Melbourne face the much-improved St Kilda and their superstar Nick Riewoldt in hot form. At half time we feature 300-gamer Drew Petrie reflecting on his long career and the influence of North champions Wayne Carey, Corey McKernan and John Blakey.
Friday front bar is on after the footy fix in Perth
Now that Seven has confirmed it will simulcast AFL matches in HD from this Friday, it raises a few more questions.
Obviously for Melbourne, all matches produced by Seven will air in HD.
For Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth, if they get the Fox Footy matches for their local teams instead of Seven-produced matches (e.g. Brisbane will get Lions v Magpies on Saturday night instead of Seven-produced Tigers v Swans), will those matches be shown in HD on FTA?
And if the Fox Footy matches are on the main channel (e.g. Carlton v Port Adelaide on Seven in Adelaide this Sunday), will they be shown in HD too?
It’s expected all games on Seven will be simulcast in HD from this weekend.
The HD telecasts will be shown on Channel 70, the network’s newest channel, which went to air on Tuesday.
For fans in Melbourne and Adelaide, the 7HD channel will simulcast the network’s main channel for AFL broadcasts.
For viewers in Perth, Sydney and Brisbane, 7HD will simulcast 7mate, which is the primary home for AFL telecasts in those cities.
Why has it taken this long???
FINALLY!!! (http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-05-10/seven-to-finally-broadcast-footy-in-high-definition)
Also in WA, night matches are shown on 7mate and most day matches are shown on main channel. For consistency and to reduce confusion among fans there, all matches should be shown on a designated channel (either main channel or 7mate).
I give the AFL credit. They’ve got some nerve!
The AFL has basically killed any chance of Sydney/Brisbane/Perth getting Seven in HD just so their game can continue to be seen in HD.
Up to 2 out of the 4 games broadcast on 7mate each week aren’t even in HD , as Seven can’t or won’t broadcast Fox Footy simulcasts in HD.
Caps of the 7mate version of the promo for Friday Night AFL in HD, although the promo itself isn’t actually airing in native HD (where’s the eyeroll/facepalm emoticons when you need them!):
Maybe it’s just me, but there’s something a bit off about the “7mate HD” logo (well, aside from the general reasoning behind this two tier HD broadcasting by Seven generally of course) in the promo…
It lines up with the “e” in 7mate fine, but not with the bottom of the other letters
###Round 8
Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield returns to a hostile cauldron at the Adelaide Oval to face his former Crows teammates on Friday Night Football. Cameron Ling has a three-part interview with the star midfielder as he shows us his hometown Moggs Creek and talks about why he came home. ‘Danger’ cam will be following the three-time All Australlian every move throughout the match.
The in-form Swans trek to the MCG to face the Tigers on Saturday Night Footy. Richmond has beaten the Swans in their last two encounters and we’ll be talking with their coach Damien Hardwick along with an inside look at the Tigers pre-game rituals. Campbell Brown also has some fun on the Logies red carpet.
Saturday Arvo Footy sees ladder leaders North Melbourne battle the Bombers. We catch up with Nathan Grima about retiring, being picked up again by the Bombers and facing his old teammates.
The much-improved Demons take on the Bulldogs on Sunday Football. We honour the work of the Breast Cancer Network Australia for this Pink Lady match and catch up with Melbourne’s Daisy Pearce and her mother Dee Wornes, a breast cancer survivor.
So after the stupid idea of airing 7mate HD in perth, neither WA Teams games will air in HD this week because they are on the main channel! idiots!
