Here’s another source from yesterday, Abesty broke the news to us this morning, so I trust it:

Word has it that Channel 7 will be changing LCN70 back to a HD service today or tomorrow, this time using MPEG 4 picture with Dolby AC3 sound.

7mate on LCN73 will be changed from to MPEG 2 SD with MPEG 1 Layer 2 sound.

Additionally all Seven Service Names will remove the word “digital” and add the market name.
For instance, in Melbourne, “7 Digital” will become “7 Melbourne”.

Initially, 7HD will carry a simulcast of the main 7 service in Melbourne & Adelaide, and a simulcast of 7mate in Sydney, Brisbane/Gold Coast & Perth.

No changes will be made to 7QLD services at this stage.

Melbourne is 1st, Sydney will get the change made by the weekend, the big push actually came from the AFL and the AOC.
