Seven AFL Coverage

Level 4 in the Olympic stand to be exact. I think there is wheelchair/accessible seating right behind them there. Then the seats tier down another 5 or so rows to the actual balcony edge.

What’s the broadcast details for free to air for the first week of finals? It means the news in both Melbourne and Perth will have to be moved from the traditional 6pm timeslot.

Melbourne is showing the early Sunday game between the Western Bulldogs and GWS Giants.

Took this years back, not the exact desk but I think same spot.

Isn’t that when the VFL elimination final is happening? I thought because of the 7 would be showing the Cats vs Tigers AFLW Match

My Fetch TV guide is showing the VFL followed by AFLW

TVCynic posted the broadcast details this morning, but they are incomplete because the qualifying final between Geelong and Collingwood has not been included yet.

“With four new teams, the new AFLW season marks a monumental moment in our great game and we cannot wait to bring Australians the biggest and best moments of what looks to be a nail-biting AFLW season.

“Once again, we have assembled an unbelievably talented, experienced and respected AFLW on-air line up, bolstered with some exciting familiar and fresh faces who Australia will love. We can’t wait to get started,” he said.

Abbey Holmes said the new season will bring a feast of new talent and rivalry that the competition has never seen before.

“On the eve of season seven, we have reached an exciting moment in women’s football history, a moment that we will remember for years to come,” she said.

“With all 18 teams now represented, every footy fan across the country now has an AFLW team to call their own. The possibilities are endless in 2022 . We could be on the verge of the best season yet.

“Will Erin Phillips continue her dominance when she dons her father’s famous #1 Port Adelaide guernsey, or will Daisy’s Demons finally nab the victory they came so close to last season?,” Holmes said.

“Who is Hawthorn under the guise of premiership coach Bec Goddard, and can the Adelaide Crows sustain their success after a crop of their best headed to Alberton? We are in for a treat this season and I cannot wait to get started. Bring it on.”

Also, it’s not even Seven who make the coverage.

I’m curious as to how she managed that one!

Wish they’d give Sam Lane a more prominent role given her talents and long association with both AFLM and AFLW. Seven’s reliance on past players rather than professional broadcasters is tiresome and regularly means bad tv.

That’s known as “the AFL”.

Not to mention Seven poached her (including much fanfare/ on-air promos at the time) from 10’s BTG for 2013 (she stayed with 10 for 2012 even though they had lost rights). She was part of the Saturday night pre-game, half-time and post-game for years, later known as “The Kick”. But around 2018-2019 she sort of disappeared, Nat Edwards later replacing, perhaps they/she wanted to focus on AFLW coverage? I think she also moved to Sydney and was also a regular on Weekend Sunrise.
She was part of BTG for 10 years and dates back to the late 1990s writing for The Age. She is the daughter of iconic sports broadcaster Tim Lane.
