It appears as though the Swans game this Friday against Geelong has been moved to 7mate in Sydney.
Which is a shame.
Presumably due to last week’s disappointing ratings on the main channel.

Although the Giants vs Eagles game on Saturday is getting a main channel airing here in Sydney.

My guess is that in the eyes of Seven, the ratings of Better Homes & Gardens is more important than the AFL from a Sydney perspective…

That is interesting… forgot that was also a night final.

Nothing unusual.

Friday night Prelim last year involving Swans was on 7mate (103k).

As SydneyCityTV suggests, complications with Better Homes & Gardens (albeit a rather weak excuse).

Although, the AFL may push hard for main channel treatment next week (if they make it), especially if ratings are good this Friday.

AFAIK this was always the schedule for the main channel in Syndey

Yes, as well as this:

Also likely because the game is also on Foxtel too.

Semi-finals

The race for September glory heats up

The Cats and the Swans meet at the MCG on Friday Night Football for a last chance battle to land a Preliminary Final berth against the Crows.

Club coaches Chris Scott and John Longmire join the coverage live in the lead up to the bounce to preview the upcoming action, and following the match Roaming Brian will be live from the winner’s room.

The Giants host the second semi-final against the Eagles at Spotless Stadium on Saturday Night Footy with the winner set to face the Tigers next Saturday night. The Giants have their eyes set on winning their first flag, but won’t have it all their own way against the Eagles who last weekend proved they will give everything until the very last second.

On The Kick, injured Giants star forward Jeremy Cameron joins the team live at the desk after tearing his hamstring last weekend. The panel also relives some of the greatest moments in AFL finals history.

At half-time injured Giants ruckman Shane Mumford joins Cameron Ling for a chat, and we hear from Josh Kelly about his game style that earned him his first All- Australian nod this year.

As always, thanks for the weekly details

I dont know about anyone else, but that scheduling by Seven seems a blatent tactic to boost their shares?

Ensuring huge audiences for 7mate on both Friday and Saturday (big Syd & Per audience tonight with Swans + huge Per audience tomorrow with Eagles)?

Isn’t that exactly what the networks are supposed to do?

Pretty sure the AFL & the clubs have a say??

Well obviously they don’t mind…

Why is it that SA gets the pregame on 7mate but the game on 7?

Hamish McLachlan on the desk has told a developing story out of london with a terror attack on a underground tube line. Afl coverage switched to breaking news updates for a few seconds with Alex Hart telling the condemning details.

Interesting. I heard it on the news about an hour ago. Wouldn’t call it breaking news.

I believe that hamish has made a significant event happening in London, so Seven switched the news update to studios in Sydney

Why doesn’t Seven move the game to Foxtel?

Maybe because Today Tonight is on the main channel at the same time?

Why would they?
