its always been that way since 2010 friday night team always do the GF
So Seven didn’t have Friday night team for 2008 GF?
remembering Ten did 2007, 2009 & 2011
Footy’s Funniest
Thursday 21 September at 07:30 PM
PREMIERE
Host Dennis Cometti celebrates footy’s funniest moments from the last 50 years with special guests Matthew Richardson, Brian Taylor, Brendan Fevola and more.
They did, Dennis and Bruce.
Not shown in perth then?
This actually sounds quite decent, much better than what Kittens Make You LOL would have been!!
So why did WA TV specifically refer to “from 2010”?
Between 2007 to 2011, 7 and ten shared the afl grand final
So ten did 2007,2009,2011 and 7 did 2008 and 2010
Um… Yes, I know that, I said exactly that a few posts above:
But why exclude 2008?
Friday night team (Bruce + Dennis) still did it.
7mate in Adelaide will show the 2017 Magarey Medal, SANFL’s best and fairest award, plus South Australian Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9pm.
Were Bruce and Dennis the Friday night team in 2001? If so, we can backdate that at least to there…
They did call the 2001 gf 2002 till 2006 nine and ten covered afl
Oh I’m well aware… I’m suggesting that the Friday night call team have called the GF a lot further back than 2010!!
Dennis and Bruce did 2008
Before 7 lost tv right in 2002
7 had 1/2 dozen callers
Bruce and Sandy’ called gf from 1995 to 2001
Ian roberston and Bruce did Friday nights for a period during this time
IIRC, anthony Hudson was also part of 7 commentary team where he called 2000 AFL GF between Essendon and Melbourne.
Yes 7 used three commentators that year
Pre 2002, as I recall, Seven had Bruce and Sandy calling the GFs, with Dennis as a third commentator some years and even Anthony Hudson one year as the third commentator.
Bruce was solo PbP in 2001 alongside Robert Walls and Dermott Brereton, save for Round 22 when he called with Ian Robertson (the FNF team from 1995-1999). He called the GF with Sandy Roberts, Jason Dunstall (who did FNF in 1999-2000) and Gerard Healy.
In fact here are the teams for the Channel 7 GF’s from 1988 to 2010
1988: Drew MORPHETT, Dennis COMETTI, Malcolm BLIGHT (Boundary Don Scott and Bernie Quinlan)
1989: Dennis COMETTI, Ian ROBERTSON, Don SCOTT (Boundary Michael Roberts)
1990: Sandy ROBERTS, Ian ROBERTSON, Don Scott (Boundary Michael Roberts, Bernie Quinlan)
1991: Bruce McAVANEY, Dennis COMETTI, Don SCOTT (Boundary Peter McKenna, Bernie Quinlan)
1992: Sandy ROBERTS, Dennis COMETTI, Ross GLENDINNING (Boundary Gerard Healy, Bernie Quinlan)
1993: Sandy ROBERTS, Ian ROBERTSON, Gerard HEALY (Can’t remember boundary)
1994: Bruce McAVANEY, Dennis COMETTI, Gerard HEALY (Boundary Robert DiPierdomenico, Neil Kerley)
1995: Sandy ROBERTS, Ian ROBERTSON, Malcolm BLIGHT (Boundary Dipper/Kerls)
1996: Bruce McAVANEY, Sandy ROBERTS, Leigh MATTHEWS (Boundary Dipper/Kerls)
1997: Bruce McAVANEY, Sandy ROBERTS, Dennis COMETTI, Leigh MATTHEWS, John RUSSO, Gerard HEALY (Boundary Dipper, Kerls, Russell Morris)
1998: Bruce McAVANEY, Sandy ROBERTS, Dennis COMETTI, Leigh MATTHEWS, Tim WATSON (Boundary Dipper/Kerls)
1999: Bruce McAVANEY, Sandy ROBERTS, Ian ROBERTSON, Jason DUNSTALL, Gerard HEALY (Boundary Dipper/Richard OSBORNE)
2000: Bruce McAVANEY, Sandy ROBERTS, Gerard HEALY, Malcolm BLIGHT (Boundary Cast of Thousands)
2001: Bruce McAVANEY, Sandy ROBERTS, Jason DUNSTALL, Gerard HEALY (Boundary Dipper/Matthew CAMPBELL)
2008: Bruce McAVANEY, Dennis COMETTI, Nathan BUCKLEY, Leigh MATTHEWS, David SCHWARZ (Boundary Tim WATSON/Ricky OLARENSHAW)
2010 (Both GF’S): Bruce McAVANEY, Dennis COMETTI, Tom HARLEY, Leigh MATTHEWS (Boundary Matthew RICHARDSON/Tim WATSON)
It appears as though the Swans game this Friday against Geelong has been moved to 7mate in Sydney.
Which is a shame.
Presumably due to last week’s disappointing ratings on the main channel.
