Seven AFL Coverage

Called the WBBL game yesterday which finished after 10pm in Adelaide. So again don’t understand why they have him doing WBBL & AFL back to back days when they could of used Bennett & Jo Wotton

I’m surprised the AFLW decider isn’t on the main channel in Brisbane with the Lions playing and the opportunity for the AFL and AFLW double flag.

I also noted the movie “Sister Act” was on the main channel in SYD and BNE - I thought that was a bit ironic!

He is a professional. Why can’t he do both. Clearly 7 regard him highly.

The score graphics have a tweak. When a goal is scored, the club mascot appears followed by the AFLW premiership cup.

Same as AFL GF

I agree Nicholson is great and very versatile with multiple sports. but I thought 7 would have used their number 1 AFLW commentator (who’s done all other previous AFLW GF) & someone who wouldn’t have to go from Adelaide to Melbourne in the morning.

The AFLW GF telecast finished at 10.26pm AEDT.

Well then, it’s adjustment time.

And it has happened. 358k for AFLW GF, 332k for the movie.

What a spectacular blow-up. Wonder what excuses the schedulers could come up with.

Reach probably

Has I said last week 90% of afl followers don’t give a rats about AFLW🤷‍♂️

The GF won that by an even wider margin (1.103m vs 992k).

And it defeated the movies, despite Seven’s attempts to block it out of the main channel in 3/5 states and the game being a 40-point blowout.

They simply have no excuses whatsoever.

Update on Tom Morris

After some legal wrangling, Nine have agreed to walk back part of the clause with Morris allowed to appear on Seven’s game-day broadcast and associated shows, including The Agenda Setters, after the first month of the season (around Rd 4-5).

Wonder how Seven will navigate that if the plan is for Morris to front new programs (e.g., a Sunday night round review).

Just have a sub for a bit you’d assume? There’s probably nothing to stop them from using his NIL to advertise it?

Xander McGuire could step up as interim host?

I know the saying is that imitation is the best form of flattery, but what 7 have done is to poach talent (Kane Cornes, Caroline Wilson, Craig Hutchison (though production deals associated with him)) and now Tom Morris from 9 and then copy their existing formats (Footy Classified and Footy Furnace). Some originality on both counts will in the long run benefit 7 more than ripping off 9.

Seven has just released it’s AFL Season 2026 Trailer, expect to see it during coverage of the remainder of the BBL Tournament even in New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory and Queensland.
