Saw the new trailer during 7News in Melbourne tonight.
It was featured during the tea break of the Test match. After the interview regarding the Rugby World Cup
Not a fan of the new AFL promo.
Strange comment. Why wouldnât it air in these regions?
NRL #1 states
Itâs awful. Hate that rap stuff. Last yearâs was awful too.
For a promo for the AFL, there are a lot of shots of people in the crowd
I dont mind the music
Nothing catchy about the music and it wouldnât appeal to a wider demographic.
Good lord that promo is diabolically bad.
I can kinda see what theyâre going for but itâs completely the wrong music track and has no connection at all to the vision.
Use rap music - no problem within reason - but it needs a hook, ESPN are quite good at it with their promos - just one or two lines is all thatâs needed.
The irony is - and I was unfamiliar with Baker Boy largely - is he actually has 2-3 songs they could use as a credible hook (Kings, Lightning, Ainât Nobody Like You) where you could use the key line in the song as a promo/key message.
I agree. The music they used last year was alright. This one seems to be not the right thing.
Think they were trying to go for this sort of thing again, but this was a better one and coincided with the new 2017 broadcast deal:

Very similar - interesting.
I find it really overplayed that style of promo. Nothing about that is going to drive viewership
King Stingray would be so better. Or do a bloody remix of the holy grail.
I think thereâs more of the crowd element because you can watch the play anywhere, but you âget the atmosphereâ only on Seven. That sort of a vibe is what I get.
Seven doesnât have rights to NRLâŚ
If Seven are genuinely telling viewers that âthe crowd will be on your side if you watch us,â then it wouldâve made perfect sense to lean fully into that idea by using âUp There Cazalyâ as the âsoundâ of the campaign.
There is a lot of AFL push during the ashes commentary. A lot of promo for Origin and also the 2026 Season.
Mainly done by Tim Lane & James Brayshaw.
The Fox footy promo is soo much better.
