I think North Melbourne v Port Adelaide will be on main channel in SA, and Crows v Cats will be on 7mate in SA.
To respond to both of the most recent AFLW queries, the broadcast arrangement is confirmed on the website of the league as written. There will be no deviations.
For AFL, I have to try to work around that as a result.
I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t a deviation there.
Literally lowest common denominator journalism. Would they rather the Wednesday Night that could shape top 4 be paywalled?
There would be just as much criticism if they aired that instead of the top 8 clash. It’s a lose lose situation
There is no way 7 will show AFL on mate & AFLW on main.
These 2 will definitely be on broadcast tv in SA either 7 or 7mate
This will be main channel in all AFL states & 7mate in NSW & QLD
There are AFLW games involving NSW, QLD & WA teams that would definitely be on at least 7mate Saturday
1:05pm Pies v GWS
3:05pm Suns v Swans
5:05pm Dockers v Lions (3:05pm Perth)
I don’t think the AFLW broadcast guide is correct if they are missing Saturday AFLW games for local markets on 7. Would use general knowledge and commonsense instead of the AFLW broadcast guide
Perhaps we didn’t need to ‘predict’ this at all given the number of obvious errors are being made.
I used the AFLW broadcast guide as the starting point for my schedule expectation. (That’s why there is even an expectation in the first place, not one randomly made out of thin air.) Had I known that that cannot be taken in face value, too, that post would not have been made.
I sincerely apologize for any offence caused.
Nah, it’s a bit of harmless fun. The AFL should be the ones apologizing for being so late with everything Rnd 24! ![]()
Would have been a late night for the kids especially with school today!
AFL fans association president Ron Issko has lashed out at Seven for not broadcasting the round 24 game between Essendon and Carlton, saying it was another snub for fans after giving up the Saturday night matches to Foxtel.
Ron must support Carlton or Essendon. Clearly this is a much better allocation of games.
Does he realise there is a national sunday night game on 7? It’s not there will be less games on 7 that week. I swear, people complain about anything these days
From The Age article:
“Thursday night is this big new time that the AFL are screaming from the rooftops saying, ‘it’s great, everyone watches it, everyone loves it’.
“It’s true. People who like to watch footy, do like Thursday nights. It is very popular, like Friday night.”
But Issko said Sunday night was not in the same league.
“I don’t care what the AFL might say or what others might say, I can tell you the fans are not happy,” he said.
It 7 made the Lions v Hawks as a Fox game by taking the Bombers v Blues then there would have been a similar amount of backlash and hate. A lot of fans and even past players agree that 7 made the right decision. It’s just 9 & now fans association (through age) who’s making it seem like a bad thing
In defence of Sunday Night, i remember when Thursday night was initially introduce, there was widespread scepticism and comments of “this isn’t as good as Friday”. Then as time went on, people began to embrace it. I see Sunday night going in the same way. 7 will air the occassional 4-5 Sunday night games each season, let the fans slowly become used to it, then when the next broadcast deal comes, they will try and double it. The only problem with Sunday night footy is that it’s up against the biggest shows on 9 and 10. So from a ratings POV, it would suffer more.
