Yeah I think he went to do the Fox interview but I don’t think he did one with 7’s post game broadcast later.
Roaming Brian is not shown live anymore, so once he said no to that, he would have had time to go to the 7’s desk with Hamish & Nick but he didn’t. That’s also discussed in the news article link. That he snubbed 7 all together not just the roaming Brian.
Depends on the states. QLD and SA will get the Port and GC game and WA and NSW will get the WC and SYD game on sat night. Looks like NSW and WA will get 5 games on 7 that week. Not counting the Wednesday night game
The Seven Network welcomes the AFL’s fixture announcement for Round 24 of the 2025 AFL Premiership Season, to be broadcast live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Seven Network Director of Sport, Chris Jones, said: “We’re thrilled with the games we’ve secured in Round 24 and the way they set up a blockbuster climax to what’s been an unbelievable AFL season.
“Having the final three matches on free to air, that look certain to determine the makeup of the top eight is a dream result and it sets up a thrilling finish for footy fans right across the country.
“All four games on Seven in Round 24 feature teams that will play finals – a perfect lead-in to what promises to be an unforgettable 2025 Finals Series,” he said.
“In every decision taken together with the AFL, the fans remain at the forefront of everything we do. The passion and loyalty shown by the fans in every corner of the country is what makes the game so great and we are stoked to deliver an exceptional final round fixture for the fans.
“I would like to thank the AFL and its clubs, led by Chief Executive Officer Andrew Dillon, for their continued support of Seven,” Mr Jones said.
“The biggest games of Round 24, followed by every single final – including the Grand Final exclusively – all live and free on Seven and 7plus. Your Home of the Footy.”
7 would probably do their own local coverage though?
I also wonder if 7 will start doing their own coverage of Fox games that air on their network in QLD and NSW like they do for WA and SA next year. It’s jarring watching a game on 7 up here in Queensland and seeing a constant bombardment of Fox advertising.
Makes sense. They probably wanted the Sunday night game which is a top 8 clash with finals impact instead of a flop. The Wednesday while probably not too exciting has an impact on finals and could rate better than Thursday night.
Yeah but that could have changed or it meant they didn’t Sunday afternoon. Either way if they took Thursday night they would of lost 1 of the top 8 deciding Sunday games
We’re most likely going to see the coverage split as follows. (Don’t really expect much deviations.) AFLW games italicized.
FRIDAY 8/22
Collingwood v Melbourne, 7.10pm on Seven (VIC)
Port Adelaide v Gold Coast, 8.10pm on Seven (SA) and 7mate (QLD)
SATURDAY 8/23
North Melbourne v Adelaide, 1.20pm on Seven (SA) Hawthorn v Carlton, 7.15pm on Seven (VIC)
West Coast v Sydney, 7.35pm on Seven (NSW) and 7mate (WA)
SUNDAY 8/24
GWS Giants v St Kilda, 12.20pm on Seven (NSW) North Melbourne v Port Adelaide, 1.05pm on Seven (VIC), 7mate (NSW/QLD) and 7plus (SA) Adelaide v Geelong, 3.05pm on Seven (VIC) and 7plus (SA)
Western Bulldogs v Fremantle, 3.15pm on Seven (SA/WA) and 7mate (NSW/QLD)
Brisbane v Hawthorn, 7.20pm on 7mate (NSW/WA) and Seven (others)
WEDNESDAY 8/27
Gold Coast v Essendon, 7.20pm on Seven (VIC/SA) and 7mate (others)
I also think the gold coast game will be on the main channel in QLD. Especially as it’ll be their first time making finals. 9 are contractually obligated to air Storm games on the main channel in Vic, and i think the AFL should reinforce that on 7.
You got the games the wrong way around - Collingwood v Melbourne starts at 7:10pm AEST while Port Adelaide v Gold Coast starts at 8:10pm AEST/7:40pm ACST.
