SEN (Radio)

Because the stadium needs to agree to have their WIFI used to broadcast live games? Does the SCG even have ground-wide Wifi? (genuine question, haven’t been to the SCG since COVID).

Yes. The SCG has ground-wide Wifi, with a 5Ghz and a 2.4Ghz network IIRC. My phone jumps on the 5Ghz network.

Maybe they could get on with adding SEN Tasmania to their licence in Hobart…

I just watch Matty Johns face to face with Ray Hadley and they were talking about he had (Matthew Johns) retired from radio. Yet he is still SEN 1170? SEN doesn’t exist?

It doesn’t count as it is just 1 day a week on SEN. I felt that is what it implied unless I missed it.

Interesting interview, it did touch on feuds a bit, but didn’t cover all the big feuds.

Maybe because no one is listening he doesn’t consider it radio?

Must be embarrassing when you have almost zero listeners

Matt White has told Mediaweek he will host his SEN 1170 show from Adelaide for the duration of Australian Swimming Trials (June 12 - 17). He will do the radio in the morning and call the swimming for Amazon Prime at night.

Might see his morning show cut to say 11:30am because the heats I think start most days at midday. He’s hosting the coverage for Amazon Prime as Jon Harker is doing the main commentary.

is it just this live screen crap or a proper broadcast?

Tucked away in a Mediaweek article about Matt White and Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of the swimming trials is this:

The heats start at 10am Adelaide time (10.30am AEST) each day.

In glorious news, they’ve finally forgone the Google spreadsheet for a daily schedule that you can actually read.

I mean, it’s hardly intuitive, but readable.

https://www.sen.com.au/guide/

The guide suggests SEN has launched in Hobart on 1629 AM. Can any of our Tassie posters confirm?

Is SEN Hobart Commerical or Narrowcast? It takes the 1116 feed, where as Northern Tassie takes the SEN track feed.

Nothing but static in Hobart

The timezones are really weird though - that they don’t edit the cells - just have the actual time in a column on the side in far smaller text - makes it very hard to read the WA guide.

Speaking of which, very weird that they waste their allowed non-Racing time on SEN Track Perth on the Melbourne shows, and don’t air their “The Sporting Goss” program into Perth.

Also, really weird that SEN Fanatic (weirdly mislabled narrowcast in the tables) doesn’t get used to air the interstate shows,

Based on today - so some shows I think aren’t Monday-Friday…

4-6:30am SENZ Breakfast (SENZ, Live) - once it exists…
6:30-9:00am Kane & Hayesy (SEN SA, Live)
9:00-11:00am Breakfast with Pat & Heals (SEN Track Brisbane, Delayed)
11-11:30am The Sporting Coast (SEN Gold Coast, Delayed)
11:30-noon Best of Sportsday QLD (SEN Gold Coast, Delayed) or “Best of 1170” if they can’t do Sportsday.
12-2pm The Sporting Goss (SEN WA, Live)
2-4pm SENZ Drive (SENZ, Live) - once it exists…
4-6pm Kymbo & The Rooch (SEN SA, Live)

You’d be able to fill most of the day with content they produce anyway, airing parts of it live.

SEN ‘Fanatic’ would fit as a name as it’d be ultra niche content - but they make it, why not air it?

I don’t think they would be able to broadcast non-live sport NZ programming due to advertising, etc.

There is now music playing on 1629 AM in Hobart with a voice over every minute saying “This broadcast will resume shortly please stand by” I am guessing this is testing for SEN?

Yes, same loop occurred while they were testing for 657 AM in Perth.

Is 1629AM in Hobart only on 400w of power?
