SEN (Radio)

I don’t know how to check that

Appears to only be 400w. From the same site as 936 ABC Hobart which is 10kW.

I think SEN doesn’t seem to worry about ratings so much? They seem to have a different strategy to make money. A bit like Sky Sports Radio/2SM.

Yep, 1170 is here to stay as SEN. The synergy of their national network and syndicated radio rights held by Sports Entertainment Network help subsidise the lower performing parts of the business. I don’t see any change at all. If anything more SEN stations will continue to appear.

They’re just like the pandemic but just not as infectious.

Is it just me or in their new format can you only get the schedule for that day. You can’t look ahead?

Better late than never, I just tuned into SEN and they had an ad promoting 2CH.

SEN’s digital station SEN Fanatic has the radio rights to this year’s NBA Finals between Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns. Coverage began yesterday with game 1.

SEN 1116 and SEN 1170 will also have highlights of each of the NBA finals games.

The full schedule for all 7 games of the series (all times AEST)
Game 1: Suns defeated Bucks 118-105
Game 2: Friday, July 9 – 11 am
Game 3: Monday, July 12 – 10 am
Game 4: Thursday, July 15 – 11 am
Game 5 (if required): Sunday, July 18 – 11 am
Game 6 (if required): Wednesday, July 21 – 11 am
Game 7 (if required): Friday, July 23 – 11 am

Surprised they don’t just air this on 1170 and 1116 too, at least the actual live play. Fair enough they keep pre and post-game on SEN Fanatic.

The morning time slot doesn’t conflict with other live sport coverage, except maybe game 5 on a Sunday might interfere with regular AFL and NRL weekend pre-match coverage which would no doubt be a priority over NBA. But every other game could easily air on analog too.

Seriously who are they kidding?

Who in their right mind would listen to static mixed with talk that fades in & out…and that’s not even taking into consideration what it would sound like at night with added interference.

Good luck to the sales guy down there selling a product that no one knows about on a band that hasn’t been listened to since the 80’s.

I don’t see the appeal in these 16xx frequency stations. My reception of any of them is patchy at best. Nothing that I could stay tuned to for more than a few minutes at a time.

Is anyone actually listening to any of these 16xx SEN stations??

Although these 16xx frequencies may not be popular with Tasmanian listeners, at least they will finally be able to get decent radio coverage of Hobart Hurricanes matches in the BBL.

I think they probably work well for the handful that 4KZ have in remote areas of Queensland as the transmission sites are either in the town or very close by.

is it decent if nobody can pick it up or get a clear signal?

Surely a deal must be coming for SEN to access Grant’s DAB spectrum if they are going to this much effort.

The 1629 Freq (in my experience around Hobart) is very weak at best, and would be an epically hard sell.

I can get SEN SA 1629 in my car but I am almost entirely in metro Adelaide. I think most people use the app.

I wish I could go to the cricket more, but when I go I love commentary at the ground. I am sure someone would know or I could figure out myself but I wonder where the transmitter is relation to the ground.

Anyway these days listening to the cricket at the ground with SEN and big bash might be no good as the guys watch it on TV so there is a lag. It has been too long since I have been to the cricket. Although I do watch a bit junior cricket when the opportunity arises.

SEN are rolling out “SEN Stadium” that can be accessed using their app over the stadium wifi and has no delay.

It’s only available at a few stadiums so far for AFL matches. Hopefully also available for the cricket.

The sound quality on the app is fantastic compared to listening on 1629.
