SEN (Radio)

What’s with this ‘Matty’ rubbish? He’s always referred to himself as Matt.

I seem to recall him being referred to as “Matthew” until maybe a decade or so ago?

Prior to Today Tonight, he was Matthew, I think.

Why are they doing that? SEN should have enough of its own?

I guess he is lost to Tv then

They (had to?) offer Niche Radio some DAB spectrum as part of the deal that moved SEN Track over to the narrowcast frequency, and are still also running Rythmos. So those plus running SEN Track, SEN2 and SEN3 end up eating well into the 3MP side of things.

Rythmos seems to have stayed with the Crocmedia side of things - at least they list their address as the same as Crocmedia.

As for Niche Radio - I assume the deal would have been with ACE that because basically they could only buy 3MP because Niche Radio moved, that they could be obligated to be the ones carrying it, at least temporarily.

Either way, you’d assume there has to be some agreement between the two stations on their division of bandwidth - so I’d really strongly doubt that SEN would decide pumping down 2CH would be worth it. I think it’s more likely SEN2 becomes SEN Sydney in Melbourne.

Niche Radio also supposedly made the same DAB access deal in Sydney - at least according to the initial reports on it - I assume despite the frequency up in Sydney flipping over to SEN Track that it still isn’t on DAB up there?

Is there a list of how each station is using its bandwidth? E.g. who is broadcasting Coles and Chemist Warehouse stations?

I did a DAB+ Sydney rescan yesterday & no, there’s no Niche Radio or Rete Italia showing up.

Just to clarify, On DAB+ in Melb is on the station list/name showing as Niche Radio or Rete Italia & is there any slideshow? Also is the programming from 3pm that of Niche Radio (2ME etc) rather than Rete Italia?

Label in Melbourne is NICHE RADIO. I’ll have a listen out this afternoon to confirm that the Niche service is indeed being broadcast.

Only silence on Niche. What a mess Crocmedia is making of these statins. ALL of them broadcasting horse racing at present.

Odd - was definitely up at the time of last posting.

As per broadcast schedule at this time.
Wish their ‘Broadcast Schedule’ spreadsheet was easier to scroll across/down on desktop.

Yeah, got an ID for 2ME just now on Niche Radio.

Correct, began after overnight programming finished, which on the HPON/NAS there was when the pre start loop finished.

Correct, they did not begin yesterday.

He’s feeling old? Or perhaps the station wants him to appear younger?

@ozbark, try this link instead:

Matthew Johns will host the 9am-12pm shift on Fridays on SEN 1170 in Sydney, and make other appearances throughout the week. Johns said he was initially approached by Craig Hutchison at the start of this year but declined the offer.

Hadley’s 9:00am - 12:00pm ratings went up because John’s stepped away from 6:00am - 9:00am? How can they possibly be connected.

Hadley’s a delusional narcissist so I wouldn’t take much of what he says to be truthful.

According to Radioinfo, NRL.com reporter Katie Brown will join 1170 SEN. The article also mentioned that Gerard Whatley’s show will be heard on 1170 SEN at 12-1pm Mondays-Thursdays.

More here.

I love Katie Brown’s work! It was a shame when she left Seven News GC!

Whilst I am going to miss 2CH as what has predicted to be “gone” in a few months to a year (on DAB) , this new SEN 1170 is looking a lot better than MSR was. As a league and cricket fan I am looking forward to it.
