I know “most comprehensive” is just a buzzword, but it’s quite a feat to put that in when you’re starting coverage 50 minutes after play commences.

Last year it was:

The action kicks off on Sunday 12 January, with a special preview show from 10am, followed by live match coverage from 11am.

Then there is this:

experience the action in real-time via SEN Stadium, while those watching at home can use SEN Sync to perfectly align the commentary with their TV broadcast.

They do realize they and 9/9Gem are not always carrying the same matches, right?

Sure, but if I’m at home watching the tennis I’ll probably choose to watch Stan where at least one of the matches Stan is showing will also be SEN’s broadcast match, and SEN Sync can delay their stream by enough to sync up with Stan. That said, you make a good point because with the nature of tennis and the sheer number of matches going on at once, I’m probably not going to check if SEN happen to be calling the match I’m watching, and if I did, the TV commentators would really have to annoy me to get me to that point.

Just remembered to check today, and yep it’s the TV broadcast being relayed. Fox’s TV call by Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady coming through on SEN Fanatic right now.

What time does SEN’s own coverage of the Australian Open normally start? It’s advertised for midday but does not seem to be available yet.

And I’m not referring to AO radio which is also available via SEN app, but without the sync feature.

Maybe the low power FM 3GLs perhaps, but not the 1341 AM?

Given I’m sure a Geelong SEN (presumably SEN Track?) would likely cover Geelong Cats content pretty heavily I can’t imagine K-Rock would want them stepping in on that market, so can’t see them selling either of the HPONs.

It’d have to be SEN Track, in which case what’s the point of having yet another broadcast of it receivable in the area.

If there was any amount of cooperation rather than competition between the players here, a somewhat crazy idea could be to turn 3GL into a local sports/talk/racing station as a way for K-Rock to offload its football content/commitments while still servicing the demand for that in the Geelong area. 3GL could have a bit of focus on local sport etc, maybe even with the help of K-Rock, and let K-Rock ditch the sport for good.

Totally harebrained, but it may just work, if you could convince the regulator that broadcasting Cats games in Geelong is “narrowcasting” :joy:

Sounds to me it would be more likely to adopt the SEN Goulburn Valley format, which takes all the 1116 SEN programming, but has its own local drive program.

The presenter on that station has been pretty successful at doing a LOT of outside broadcasts at local businesses.

SEN’s coverage plans for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is thrilled to announce it will broadcast the biggest matches of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, delivering wall‑to‑wall coverage of cricket’s global showpiece as it unfolds across India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8, 2026.

SEN’s coverage will be led by Tom Morris, who will anchor the network’s T20 World Cup programming after recently signing a new three‑year agreement with SEN. This new deal will see Morris – alongside Bharat Sundaresan - co-hosting The New Ball each week (commencing this Wednesday, February 4), thanks to the show’s new joint partners; Henley Homes and Cobram Estate.

Morris will also be a part of SEN Cricket’s Test commentary team in Australia and overseas, commentate BBL, ODIs and T20Is on SEN, plus host shows on AFL Nation and across the wider SEN network across the year.

Morris will be joined in commentary by a high‑calibre team including Sundaresan, Darren Berry, Bryce McGain and John Donohoe, bringing fans expert analysis, insight and match‑day energy from start to finish.

Across the tournament, SEN will broadcast the biggest games of the group stage, every Super 8 match, both Semi Finals and the Final, ensuring listeners don’t miss a moment of the business end of the World Cup. Every Australian match will be broadcast live, as the Aussie men look to replicate their success from 2021 in the tenth edition of the tournament.

Coverage will be heard nationally across the SEN*, reinforcing SEN’s position as Australia’s audio and digital home of live sport and major global events, and some calls on SENTurf** across Western Australia.

Morris said he was excited for the years ahead at SEN, starting with the upcoming T20 World Cup.

“I’m pumped to lock in my future at SEN for a further three years,” Morris said. “Working on live sport and shows with some of the biggest names in sport is a dream come true. I am so grateful SEN allows me these opportunities.Any global tournament is exciting, and the upcoming T20 World Cup is no different. SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, added that the latest iteration of the T20 World Cup represented another major moment for the network’s growing international cricket portfolio.

We’ll have every Australian game live, full Super 8 coverage and the tournament’s biggest moments on air, which is a significant commitment to cricket fans nationwide. SEN have been advertising Bunning Tradio which is a digital music station, seems to play a bit of everything, a lot of hits from the past 40 years would be the easiest way to describe the playlist.
