Why only 3? Didn’t SEN try this in the past and never renewed?

I’d dare say it’s because the footy season is winding down, these events are conveniently in that time frame and its so they don’t have to be local as such?

Like, you know, SEN 1170 covering Swans AFLW matches instead of India vs New Zealand cricket?

They have been broadcasting 4 games again this year in the NRL so without a heap of sport on they’ll broadcast these Supercars events.
I think it’s a good move more live sport on SEN.

SEN extends NFL broadcast partnership

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is pleased to announce the extension of its broadcast partnership with the National Football League (NFL), continuing its commitment to delivering premier American football coverage to Australian audiences.

The renewed agreement will see SEN broadcast a minimum of one live NFL game per round throughout the regular season, ensuring fans stay connected to the action week in, week out.

SEN’s coverage on Monday mornings will again be spearheaded by Ben Graham, who will be heard alongside SEN commentator, Jordan Kounelis.

SEN will also provide full coverage of the NFL postseason, including every playoff game and the Super Bowl, with SEN’s Gerard Whateley calling all the action from the US, bringing the drama and intensity of the league’s biggest moments to listeners across the country.

In a major highlight for local fans, SEN will broadcast the NFL’s 2026 Melbourne Game, marking a significant milestone in the league’s growing presence in Australia.

SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, said the extended partnership reflects SEN’s ongoing dedication to delivering world-class sport to its audience.

“We’re incredibly proud to extend our partnership with the NFL; one of the world’s most iconic sporting leagues. The appetite for American football in Australia continues to grow, and we’re excited to bring fans even closer to the action - especially with the NFL coming to Melbourne in 2026. SEN is committed to delivering the most comprehensive and entertaining NFL coverage in the country.”

The 2025 NFL regular season commences on Thursday 4 September.

SEN farewells Scott Sattler as he takes on new NRL role

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has extended its thanks to Scott Sattler for more than a decade of exceptional service, after it was announced he will be taking on a new role as Director of Football at the Gold Coast Titans.

Sattler joined SEN in 2012, co-hosting Sportsday alongside Gary Belcher, and quickly became a familiar voice in rugby league, heard across more than 50 radio stations each night.

He was also an inaugural member of the NRL Nation commentary team in 2018.

Sattler has called every NRL Grand Final since 2018, and will fittingly conclude his time with SEN at this year’s Grand Final – returning to the stage where he had his most iconic moment in the 2003 decider with Penrith.

SEN is also broadcasting the Legends Game from Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium tonight, in Victoria, Tasmania, SA, Darwin and WA. The radio coverage is also streaming on the SEN App, SEN Stadium and SEN Sync.

With the transition of RSN over to SEN control, there is now International Overnight Racing airing on the SENTrack stations. It seems to primarily be just a straight feed of the Sky Racing 1 TV channel, which is what RadioTAB, RSN and Sky Sports Radio air already. It’s un-hosted and generally just goes from one race event to the next, with some occasional filler music in between.

Webster quits over homophobic inaction

Senior sports writer Andrew Webster has revealed why he quit his radio gig at SEN after the station didn’t do enough about homophobic messages on the text line.

The Australian newspaper columnist had worked at the network since 2020 on the Matty Johns Morning Glory show and on Saturday mornings alongside Scott Sattler before his resignation last week.

“Buzz, I’m good as gold,” Webster said, “I didn’t quit because of the bloke who was texting me. I quit because I asked SEN three times last week to block his number and it just didn’t happen.

It was while filling in on The Run Home show with Bryan Fletcher 10 days ago that Webster said “the guy went a little too far” with his texts.

“I asked the next morning for him to be blocked,” he said. “When I heard his texts being read out that night, I emailed the content director and asked again for him to be blocked.

“I got into the studio last Saturday for Saturday League Kick-off and I saw that this bloke still hadn’t been blocked, because his texts were coming through. I was pretty angry.

“I asked a staff member for the number to be blocked and he laughed at me. The listener still wasn’t blocked because nobody knew how to do it.

“So I resigned when I came off air three hours later. I can’t control what blokes yell from passing cars, or on social media, but I can control where I work.”

Note: Phil Rothfield says Andrew Webster will be special guest on his Off the Record podcast next week.

Mmm, I reckon he should seek legal advice. Sounds like a case against his employer to me.

Looking forward to the Sounding Board podcast for next week.

I hope he does. Thats not on.

SEN is too much of a sausage fest.

He quit because some goose was sending text messages in? A few things I’m unclear on here?

  1. Were the homophobic messages directed at him specifically or were they more general in nature? If they were directed at him in particular then I would agree the employer owes him a duty of care and should have taken action, such as blocking and referring the messages to police. If the messages were more general in nature, then maybe the employer could/should have done something, but at the same time ignoring nonsense written by the public comes with the territory of being on air.
  2. After he asked for the messages to be blocked, he heard another presenter reading out messages from the same sender. Were those messages also homophobic or innocuous? If they were homophobic then there’s a bigger issue if such messages were getting read out. But if they were innocuous then maybe management didn’t see the issue or properly understand Webster’s concerns?
  3. Was it even possible to block a sender in the system being used to receive text messages? Not all systems have that capability. We know that apparently nobody knew how to do it. Maybe it’s not an option in that system?
  4. What communication, if any, did SEN management have with Webster about the issue? We know a producer laughed at him, which is poor behaviour for sure, but we don’t know how management responded at all. Without knowing this, it’s difficult to determine if management took his concerns seriously or not. We don’t know if they were doings things behind the scenes to deal with the situation or not.

Based on one side of the story, it sounds like the issue was handled poorly, but we don’t have the full story. If Webster felt uncomfortable or unsafe working in that environment, I applaud him for having the courage to extricate himself from it and to speak about why he left. But I’m not willing to pass judgement on SEN’s handling of the situation without a fuller picture of what happened.

Matty Johns signs on for 2026 with SEN

Image|0x0

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is thrilled to announce that Morning Glory with Matty Johns will return in 2026, continuing its reign as a Friday morning favourite for rugby league fans across New South Wales and Queensland.

The show kicks off on Friday 6 February, 2026, airing weekly from 9am to midday AEDT/AEST across SEN 1170am in Sydney, SENQ 693am in Brisbane, and SEN 1620am on the Gold Coast, running all the way through to the NRL Grand Final in October.

Matty Johns, who first joined SEN in 2020, has become a staple of the network’s rugby league coverage. His Friday show is known for its signature mix of footy talk, humour and unpredictable entertainment, with fan-favourite segments like Movie of the Week, Morning Glory Jeopardy, and plenty of surprises returning in 2026.

In addition to his Friday show, Johns will continue his twice-weekly appearances on The Run Home with Joel and Fletch (with Joel Caine and Bryan Fletcher) airing live every Tuesday and Thursday at 5pm. That means fans can catch Matty three times a week on the home of Rugby League.

SEN Chief Executive Officer, Craig Hutchison, added he was thrilled to have Johns remain a part of the SEN family in 2026.

“Matt is the ultimate rugby league media showman, as brilliant with his expertise and insight into the game as he is creative and relatable to his loved audiences.

“‘Morning Glory With Matty Johns’ is must-listen content each Friday and his twice-weekly appearances on The Run Home with Joel and Fletch are compulsive listening.

“We are rapt that Matty’s unique blend of humour, insight and entertainment is reloading for another big year in 2026.”

I love Matty, but this doesn’t help over turn the fact that SEN is a sausage fest, and that this weird ploy of putting podcast-esque shows during weekdays is friggin stupid.

Hutchy and his band of dopes need to be brought out and told in no uncertain terms to rack off. I hope Andrew Webster takes the bald dope to court and some dirty laundry gets aired.

How odd. Matty is at SEN. His son Cooper is at KIIS. And together, they’re at NOVA ENT.
