SEN (Radio)

There are females that work at the station, none in an on air capacity at 1170. But in saying that there haven’t been any openings and while the ratings haven’t been great who are you going to put in? And would it help at all?

sportsdaybhas an opening and I think Michelle Bishop if she wants would be a great fit.

Vossy and Brandy can rack off. They are not breakfast material.

The format is just bizarre - the podcast style shows wedged wherever. Do they do this in Melbourne?

What they need to do is get a general sports breakfast show with all-rounders. And one of them needs to be a female. And replicate this for the drive show.

If you must have Brandy and Vossy, then have them either for mornings or afternoons. And dump the podcast style shows. Consistency is the key.

The news bulletins need to be beefed up, and it wouldn’t take much. Make sports news top of the pile, give us score updates, and maybe 60 seconds of general news and weather.

Don’t give a shit about Vossy and Brandy being in Melbourne but the rest of your post was highly entertaining. Much better than anything on any SEN radio station.

Shattering news. I wonder if @Radiohead has played their last match for Cronulla.

They’re not in Melbourne, really shouldn’t be on Sydney breakfast.

The SEN “bulletin” I pulled out of my arse.

@ElCapitanCranky is very slightly right, I am a bit dusty today after a few :beer_mug: :beer_mug: :beer_mug: after last night’s fantastic win. But I’ll sure as hell be backing up on Friday night for the prelim! And not even a Cranky sledge can wipe the smile of my face this week

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) and the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival are proud to announce a new strategic partnership that will bring Australia’s most iconic running event to life through immersive storytelling, expansive coverage and innovative digital integration.

Taking place on Sunday 12 October, the sold-out Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival will be celebrated across SEN’s multi-platform network, with both organisations working together to re-imagine how marathon racing is experienced by fans, runners and the broader community.

This collaboration will showcase the energy, emotion and community spirit of the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival, with content that highlights the journeys of elite athletes and everyday runners alike. From pre-event build-up to post-race highlights, the partnership will deliver a comprehensive media experience that captures the heart of the event.

Live coverage will include six hours of streaming across SEN YouTube, SEN TV, the SEN App, and the MCG Big Screen, with audio coverage on SEN 1116am and SEN Fanatic. On-demand content will be available via SEN’s social platforms, website and YouTube, supported by a full campaign of editorial features, training content and branded storytelling.

Cam Luke will be at the event, providing commentary and real-time updates from the course. A network of on-course reporters will capture the atmosphere from key locations, while selected runners will be mic’d up to share emotional check-ins and on-the-ground perspectives.

Craig Hutchison, Chief Executive Officer of SEN, said:

“The Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival is one of Melbourne’s most iconic events, and we’re thrilled to partner with it in a way that elevates the experience for runners, spectators and fans alike. Through our multi-platform coverage, we’ll bring the emotion, grit and triumph of race day to life. This partnership reflects our commitment to storytelling, innovation and celebrating the human spirit through sport.”

Marcus Gale, Event Director of the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival, added;

“We’re excited to partner with SEN to show how the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival has simply transcended just running. The event represents another major event cultural moment. The festival is about community, connection and making memories. This partnership with SEN will help us tell this story to an even greater audience.”

With all of the Festival’s running events already sold out, the focus now turns to celebrating the festival atmosphere, the personal journeys, and the shared spirit of one of Australia’s most beloved running events. Limited entries remain for the Chobani Fit Walk on Sunday, your chance to experience your own finish line moment inside the MCG, and the Bupa Healthy Cities Mini Marathon on Saturday, giving kids aged 12 and under the opportunity to take on a 1km course and earn their very own medal.

Given SEN 1116 will also broadcast Bathurst 1000 this Sunday (the Great Race doesn’t start until 11.45am), it will be interesting to see how much coverage the station will give for the Melbourne Marathon.

Here is the schedule for the Melbourne Marathon.

I think there’s a pretty clear-cut solution.

Cover the marathon then joining the race at 11.40.

Massive coup as SEN secures broadcast rights for FIFA World Cup 26

The tournament – which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico and the USA – from June 11 to July 19, 2026 - will be broadcast across the SEN network in prime time.

It will be the third-consecutive FIFA World Cup SEN has broadcast, after it broadcast the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.

Australian football fans will be in for a treat with the Socceroos having already qualified for the tournament.

The FIFA World Cup 26 will see an expanded format with 48 teams contesting 104 matches across the five-week period.

SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, said it was a coup for the network to yet again secure the rights to the most anticipated international sporting event of the year.

“We’re thrilled to once again bring the world’s biggest sporting event to Australian audiences across SEN. The FIFA World Cup is a truly global celebration of football, and with the Socceroos already qualified, we’re proud to deliver every moment of the action to fans nationwide. Because two “something else” programs have to play in between.

Just a move to force listeners to tune to DAB+ (if you’re interested in marathon) or the app (if not), I guess.

SEN launches new cricket-meets-wrestling show: Stumps and Bumps

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is proud to announce the launch of a bold new podcast and radio show, Stumps and Bumps, hosted by beloved cricket commentator, Bharat Sundaresan, and wrestling icon, Eric Bischoff. The show brings together two seemingly different worlds - cricket and professional wrestling - through the lens of storytelling, nostalgia and current events.

The concept was born from a shared passion for narrative and character, with Sundaresan and Bischoff bonding over their mutual love for the drama and depth behind both sports. Sundaresan - a lifelong wrestling fan and respected cricket journalist - has recently stepped into the wrestling ring himself, while Bischoff - one of the most influential figures in wrestling history - is diving headfirst into the traditions and intricacies of cricket.

Together, they’ll explore the latest happenings in both codes, revisit iconic moments and uncover lesser-known stories that shaped both sports. With the Australian summer of cricket heating up and WWE making a historic visit to Australia this month, Stumps and Bumps arrives at the perfect time to capture fans across both communities.

“Like most good things in life, the concept of Stumps and Bumps was originally born while Eric and I shared an amazing curry last year,” Sundaresan said. “We couldn’t come from two more distinct backgrounds but we are connected through our love for storytelling and focusing on the human stories behind the athletes and the wrestling characters. This is also my dream to bring the two worlds together, and turn more cricket fans into wrestling fans and vice versa, starting with my legendary co-host.”

“I used to watch Eric on TV as a little boy growing up in Bombay, India, and never did I dream of ever getting to meet him, forget having a meal with him or now sharing hosting duties for a show that we have worked on bringing to life on the back of our unique friendship and common interests, which now includes cricket. And to do it on SEN, who I have such a deep and genuine relationship with, makes it extra special.”

“I have always been drawn to anything that is different and unique, and that firstly explains how Bharat and I got along but also in terms of what intrigues me,” Bischoff added, “so, as our relationship developed, I realised that there was a great opportunity for the two of us to bring our worlds together, and create something the world has never seen; a cricket-wrestling show.”

“I spent a couple of minutes in wrestling, and I’ve always been drawn to the storytelling aspect of what we do. I’ve also always connected with professional sport through the human stories that are told so beautifully about the athletes. And through Bharat I’ve learnt that it’s those stories that make cricket such a fascinating sport and I can’t wait to learn more about it.”

SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, said the show is a perfect fit for the network’s evolving content strategy.

“I’ve been a lifelong fan of both cricket and wrestling, and like so many others, I grew up watching Eric Bischoff redefine sports entertainment. Bharat is one of the most talented storytellers in Australian sport and an integral part of the SEN family. To bring these two worlds together in such a creative and entertaining way is a thrill for us, and we can’t wait for fans to experience it.”

Stumps and Bumps will be broadcast as a podcast on YouTube, as well as across the SEN radio network on Tuesday nights, reaching listeners nationwide via SEN 1116am Melbourne, SEN 1170am Sydney, SENQ 693am Brisbane, SEN Gold Coast 1620am, SEN SA 1629am in Adelaide, SEN Mt Gambier 1629am, SEN Tassie 1629am, SEN Top End 1611am in Darwin, SEN Goulburn Valley 1260am, SENSpirit 621am in Bunbury, SENSpirit 1494am in WA’s South West, SEN Peel in Mandurah (DAB+) and SEN Goldfields 1611am in Kalgoorlie; as well as SEN Geelong, SEN Bendigo, SEN Ballarat, SEN Gippsland, SEN Sunraysia, SEN WA in Perth, the Pilbara, Mid-West and Great Southern Regions on the SEN App.

Episode 1 aired last night and is now available as a podcast.
