The mystery deepens with the strange death of an elderly woman, Helena, and another shocking murder.

The Noirvember collection will be available on SBS On Demand.

SBS only streams the NSW versions of their broadcast channels. They don’t hide this fact in the channel names which can be confusing because it suggests there are other state streams available when there isn’t.

Disappointing there is no local live streams like 7plus and 9Now. Must be funding issues.

I also dislike that the NSW streaming schedule has replaced the normal TV guide. If you live interstate you have to go a third party online guide such as YourTV.

90% of SBS on Demand users who have taken up the SBS on Demand functionality to opt out of specific ad groups have chosen to remove Gambling ads.

The remaining 10% requested no Alcohol or QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) advertising.

To opt out of one of the three ad categories, users must request it via an online form. It means, for example, someone watching a show like Addicted Australia to avoid seeing any alcohol or gambling ads.

But so far only around 1300 of some 12 million active subscribers have taken up the option, with SBS looking to do more to make its users aware of the functionality.

SBS On Demand expands audio description offering in digital catalogue

On International Day of People with Disability (December 3) SBS has announced it will significantly lift the amount of audio description content available on SBS On Demand.

This expanded offering will be available with end-to-end accessibility via the web, and will roll out across other platforms such as app, CTV, Apple and Android over the course of 2025.

Public broadcaster SBS has announced it will continue to be an industry leader in providing accessible media services to Australian audiences, with the growing roll out of audio description across more than 500 titles in the SBS On Demand catalogue and improved accessibility such as blind and low vision login via its website.

Shows such as Dateline, Barrumbi Kids, Going Places with Ernie Dingo, Four Years Later and many more across SBS On Demand’s suite of news and current affairs, children’s, documentary and drama programming will feature enhanced audio description services, with auditory narrations of visual elements and the website optimised for assistive technologies.

“We have been leaders in the audio description space for years, including being the first free-to-air broadcaster to provide audio description on linear television,” said Clare O’Neil, Director of Corporate Affairs. “Today’s move not only sees us expanding our deep library of audio description content on SBS On Demand, but also launching an improved end-to-end accessibility experience via the SBS On Demand website to better serve our blind and low vision audiences.”

SBS is proud to be an industry leader in providing accessible media services to Australian audiences, with more than 29,000 hours of subtitles, closed captioning, audio description and Auslan content made available on SBS, NITV and SBS On Demand in financial year 2023–24.

Every week we produce up to 27 hours of new audio described programming – regularly working with blind and low vision partners for script review and casting culturally appropriate voices, including Indigenous voices. SBS On Demand’s dedicated AD collection features more than 500 TV shows and movies available here.

The expanded service will be available on web viewing with access on other platforms, such as app, CTV, Apple and Android, to roll out over the course of 2025. Detailed instructions on how to access the service are provided below.

Showtrial (Seasons 1 -2)

Australian Premiere of Season 2 Box Set

Wednesday, 1 January 2025 on SBS On Demand (all ten episodes available)

Across each series of the anthology drama Showtrial – from the producers of Vigil and Line of Duty – we follow high profile murder cases through the eyes of the police, the public, and the courts.

Season 2 returns with a brand-new cast and case that grips the media and divides the nation: Notorious climate change activist activist Marcus Calderwood is a fierce advocate of direct, disruptive action and unapologetic about its consequences. As a result, he has as many hostile opponents as he does supporters. So when Marcus is left for dead in a roadside hit-and-run, foul play cannot be discounted. The fact that a dying Marcus named a police officer as his assailant – one with a prior grudge against him – reinforces this suspicion. If Marcus’s death really was a cold-blooded murder, what motives lay behind it? From the victim’s last breath to the jury’s final verdict, Showtrial’s layered characters and intriguing plot twists combine for a compelling drama built on a key question: When a trial is dominated by divisive issues and public outrage, can justice ever be served? Starring Adeel Akhtar (Sherwood, Fool Me Once), Joe Dempsie (Game of Thrones) and Michael Socha (Chernobyl, This Is England)

Season 1: When Talitha Campbell, the arrogant daughter of a wealthy entrepreneur, is arrested following the disappearance of a fellow student, the case grips the nation and whips up a media storm. On Talitha’s side is brilliant solicitor Cleo Roberts. Can Cleo control the narrative of a case that is fast becoming tangled up in the nation’s debates over privilege, wealth and politics?

Showtrial (Seasons 1 -2) will be available on SBS On Demand.

The Jury Murder Trial asks how much can we trust our justice system? In this landmark experiment, a real-life murder trial is restaged in front of two juries of ordinary people. Will they both reach the same verdict?

The two juries are asked to judge on the case of a man who admits he killed his wife, but whose defence maintains that he lost control, and is therefore not guilty of murder. Actors recreate the trial verbatim in front of the juries, who watch unaware of each other, from specially built separate compartments in the courtroom. What will the two juries decide, and why? How well will they follow the complexities of the law around loss of control? And after they have deliberated, will they even agree with each other’s verdicts?

The Jury Murder Trial will be available on SBS On Demand and episodes will air weekly on SBS from Wednesday, 26 February at 8.30pm.
