The Hunt - season 1
When the body of a young girl is found in the forest, the hunt is on for the person responsible. On the case is diligent detective Lea Smith and forensic psychologist Thomas Wolf, who wrestle with internet theories, small-town conspiracies and an overwhelming sense of grief in their pursuit of the truth. The Hunt is inspired by a true crime case that gripped The Netherlands for more than a decade. After a 16-year-old girl was found dead next to an asylum seeker’s centre just outside of town, xenophobia, prejudice and bizarre online theories took told of the country. Ultimately, the person responsible was not found for 12 years.
The Hunt season 1 premieres on Thursday 26 September on SBS On Demand.
Two things I’ve noticed from the link above:
- Individual episodes of a show (The Cook and The Chef, Paul O’Grady’s For the Love of Dogs, South Park etc.) have different expiry dates.
- Couple of shows commissioned by SBS (Every Family Has a Secret, Adam & Poh’s Malaysia in Australia, A Girl’s Guide to Hunting, Fishing and Wild Cooking) are leaving SBS on Demand. Could they be appearing on other streaming platforms in the future?

So Long, Marianne tells the legendary love story of Canadian singer and poet Leonard Cohen, and his muse Marianne Ihlen who inspired the titular song. It’s an intimate tale of two lonely people falling in love during a period of their life when they are trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world, while one is becoming one of the most famous singers of all time. Their story crosses the world, travelling from Norway to Greece, New York and Montreal, with the majority of the series filmed on the picturesque Greek island of Hydra where they lived during the 1960s.
There, they joined legendary Australian novelists Charmian Clift and her husband George Johnston, the matriarch and patriarch of a bohemian group of writers, artists, poets, and outcasts who were exploring a new world of free love, drugs, and artistic freedom, but also experiencing the rivalries and jealousy that accompanied their intense, interwoven lives. Leading the cast are Alex Wolff (The Line, Hereditary, Jumanji) as Leonard, with Thea Sofie Loch Næss (The Last Kingdom, Delete Me, A Storm For Christmas) playing Marianne. Joining them are Anna Torv (The Newsreader, The Last of Us, Mindhunter), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones) and Peter Stormare (American Gods, Fargo).

From director Dan Partland and producer Rob Reiner, God And Country looks at the implications of Christian Nationalism and how it distorts not only America’s constitutional republic, but Christianity itself. Taylor Swift is more than an absolute pop star; she is an empire worth over a billion dollars. Yet, despite her image and her apolitical lyrics, the singer tears through an America stirred by a particularly violent presidential campaign. I never realised SBS On Demand does that placeholder thing like Foxtel’s Kayo, that is during their Live Streams (such as SBS Viceland’s re-runs of classic “The Movie Show” in the AM) it’ll sometimes put up ‘this live stream is in an ad break, we’ll be back shortly’.
Wonder if it’s a commercial thing, such as broadcast advertisers not paying for bvod?
Also, I noticed my stream said “NSW” (rather than VIC) and couldn’t find a setting to change, is it default nationally? Usually location auto selects the geo, such as 7Plus.
