Again it needs a total reformat to a more traditional talk show, remove the stupid attempts to appeal cool and millennial, get him a proper home base so he isn’t wandering the set aimlessly, and get proper guests and a musical performance. Also put it on a weeknight after the reality formats, it’d go well after The Bachelor he could even have a departed contestant on to keep viewers switched on.
It’s network TV they need to stop trying to go so niche.
Maybe even if they did that people just don’t like Rove anymore , or Grant Denyer, or Chris and Julia, it’s like a general hate for Ch 10 since the Everybody Dance Now /George Negus era.
I’ll keep watching though.
But yeah I think they should move it to Sundays when people watch tv and just rename it “Rove”
I would like Rove to have returned the traditional talk show also. But would that have rated any better? Who knows? We all know that anything Ten has aired on a Saturday has never rated, in the last 5 years.
They cannot put this product back to air next week. It needs to be re-tooled ASAP. Like others have said, return the format back to a traditional talk show. But I think it might be too late.
What Seven and Nine have always done (when not airing sport)… Movies (yes a bit biased ). @OnAir even once commented how weekends are best suited for such programming/audiences.
It’s astonishing how many movies Seven and Nines channels run on Friday and Saturday nights, yet are rewarded with good shares every week. Might be a poor way to watch a movie these days, but lots are still doing it.
Could never understand why 10 dropped Saturday night movies a few years ago in favour of US trash and encores!? (To be fair, maybe they’re back, as I did catch Meet the Parents after Rove last night)
Oh it was in some thread in some context, I think discussion was how poor a movie rated on weeknight and you said something along the lines of audiences are more likely to be interested in movies on weekends (stay up late, most not at work)
I rate Alex Jae’s skits - these have been quite funny. The selection of guests needs work though.
I also think Rove needs a desk or something like that though. There’s potential but maybe it’s also just not family-friendly enough and yet is airing at 7:30 pm?
Why are they changing a format that worked for so long? Is it money related that they can’t do a show similar to 10 years ago? I wonder who is in charge of the format of the show , Rove?
