Saturday Night Rove

That was short lived. Rove has lost his mojo.

Disappointing but not surprising at those figures.

Wow savage. Should have gone Sunday’s to give it a chance.

Well at least they put it out of its misery.

He should just stay hosting whovians. Hes good doing it and should not do.anything else this axing just proves it

One would have thought they would have gone back to the drawing board on Sunday when the ratings came out and tried to work on the format for the remaining 4 commissioned episodes based on viewer feedback?

I feel for the production crew on this one. Imagine working hard on something for months, that you’re proud of to just be DOA and culled the next week.

Not surprised that it has been axed. The ratings numbers were dreadful.

Kudos for Rove/10 for trying something different. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t good.

If Rove came back to hosting a talk show, would we’d be saying “been there, done that”?

Should have wiated one more week, it’s a bit embarrassing for the whole PILOT WEEK concept.

Audiences have come to expect better than that cringe-worthy mess… I actually feel like the format of the show was too similar to Rove/Rove [Live] in a way - live crosses to people doing stupid stuff out and about, stand up comedy, side-kicks, sketches, etc, etc - it’s just that those stunts don’t work anymore. Live comedy is just too hard these days.
Rove has done much better than this too, I loved the Rove LA format he did for foxtel a number of years ago - just a simple sit-down chat with a few celebrities.

Long story short, I don’t understand why everyone thinks going back to old formulas is the solution to FTA’s problems. Nostalgia is nice for a stroll down memory lane, but we’ve constantly seen it fail almost every time. Show’s get cancelled for a reason.

Given the article says that the network and Rove agreed to axe the show (assuming no PR spin), maybe the network wanted Rove to rework it and he just wasn’t interested?

does that mean 10 will show Rugby Union live now on Saturday against Samoa

Bev McGarvey is a terrible programmer. 10 should’ve swapped to get Mott back years ago. She was the 2IC during the doomed 2011-2013 disgrace period. 10 need to take the fall too, but rarely do. And Anderson will be counting his CBS millions still tomorrow morning.

If HHIS’ 2010 comeback didn’t work then…

It could be that 10 pulled the plug because they could see how bad the show was and didn’t think he was capable of turning it around.

It was doomed before it even began. Who watches free to air tv on Saturday night unless it’s sport?

Isn’t that the point of the show though? They are looking for ways for viewers to tune in on Saturdays. They can’t just give up and ignore the night.

Sure they can

When a movie will do the same figures if not better and there are other focus areas for 10 I think they can give up on the night for the moment until the rest of the schedule is fixed.

So what’s the point of pilot week then, what was the show rating on pilot week and the discussion around it ? Ten ignored what people said last year?

If the show failed then why was it ever accepted from Pilot Week?

Imagine if the same thing happens with Trial by Kyle? Starts off good, next episode ends up dropping heaps… though sadly because it has Kyle and the show itself probably won’t happen .

I wonder if this Rove show had more of a chance during the week.
