Should be the NRL 7’s but we can’t have that due to lame ass News Corp.

I hear a potential Nine/Telstra joint bid is being prepared.

Will it be similar to the current broadcast deal between Netball Australia and Nine/Telstra? Under the deal, Nine produces every game of Suncorp Super Netball but will only show two matches live per week with the rest restricted to Telstra TV and mobile subscribers.
So a Nine/Telstra deal for the NRL could see Nine producing every game per week (except Warriors home games which will continue to be produced by Sky Sport NZ) but will only show five matches per week (Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday night and Sunday 4pm) with the rest for Telstra subscribers.

at this stage very early talks going on, the only major detail is Nine wants 4 games per round, Thursday night*, Friday night, Saturday night & Sunday afternoon & that Telstra are keen on jumping on board with Nine as they have had success with the Netball setup.

"We are looking at exclusive and non exclusive options.

Also the new chairperson of ARLC has clearly made the following

Streaming will be a big part of the NRL Digital platform

This guy is no fan of News Corp who have gone after him for his Racing NSW position over the years.

Aside from the Struggling Gold Coast Titans and Cronulla Sharks.

The Sharks have been struggling since their inception in 1967 so nothing new there.

The Sharks and Rorters are two teams that have always fudged their numbers

As for Gold Coast, what do you expect, from

  • Giants
    to
  • Seagulls
    to
  • Charges
    to
  • Titans

Oh I forgot about the:

  • Gladiators
That was 1996, very short lived but did enjoy some success at the ARL 7’s competition winning the plate (3rd tier) championship.

The reason why the Gladiators failed was due to the ARL taking over the licence and changing the club to the “Chargers” because the fear was the Gladiators would fold mid way through the season due to the ownership issues

Basket case, EVEN AFL with Suns, just a waste of time.

Time to get the Titans to move to Brisbane and play most of their Home Matches and Suncorp and the Sharks making a Move to Perth Full Time.

never going to happen, not while News Corp still is majority owner of Broncos.

As for the Sharks going to Perth, it won’t work.

I would merge Sharks with St George Illawarra and yes I would also merge Manly with Newcastle, you could then bring in a new Perth team and a 2nd Melbourne team.

Merging clubs doesn’t work and creates issues as we’ve seen at both the current merged clubs - the NRL needs to be serious about consolidation and wield the axe in Sydney. By all means, offer incentives to relocate, but at the end of the day the number of clubs in Sydney needs to drop

The whole “Brisbane needs a second club” thing has been around nearly as long as the Broncos have been in the competition and there has been little evidence to show that its actually the case - the Crushers came and went and there has been zero impetus from the community to have a second Brisbane based team since. I’d also question any expansion talk that comes from the same place that said that the Gold Coast was a critical market - its been proven time and time again that despite the population and the investment, the Gold Coast is a graveyard of professional sport.

I truly doubt that Melbourne can support another team - the indications have been, despite a strong on-field performance that the Storm continues to struggle for relevance in a really crowded market

somewhat true, but Manly does not have the funds needed to be a full time professional club.

Merging them with Newcastle is perfect as they could control North Sydney through to Newcastle.

The Sea Eagle fans might not like it but they can eat shit for what they did the Bears.

not going to happen while the inner Sydney teams have powerful league clubs that can easily fund the football operations.

Clubs like Canterbury, Paramatta a,d Penrith are too powerful, Souths ahave private backing and NRL will never try to get Souths out of the comp, while the Rorters have a millionaire backing them but are membership based.

I posted the name changes above.

Gold Coast for any team sport is a dead duck,.

I think they can easily accommodate a 2nd team, makes much more sense then trying to crate a 2nd Brisbane team, do people forget the SEQLD Crushers?

A 2nd Melbourne team based on the western side of the city will work easily, it also guarantees weekly matches in Melbourne during regular season.

Also the “Super Showdown” between both sides 2 times a year will work, if their is one thing about Melbourne, they love local sides going against each other in BIG NUMBERS.

I might have one blue eye, one black eye and one white eye, but I honestly don’t think they need to move. One their developments are completed, I think they will be one of the strongest clubs in the league.

I don’t think so.

The Sharks are limited to the Shire and that’s about it.

They can’t survive limited to that region.

Their only survival is merging with St George Illawarra.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/on-the-move-this-is-why-your-club-is-in-danger-of-relocation/news-story/f47bc6431ad6bad985daf7912e6f2e78 read it and i’ll show you how wrong tyou are.

But hom many People on the Shire would turn up to Sharks Home Gmes Post Development?

The Pros and Cons of Expansion, It Costs Millions to start a Brand New Pro Team from Scratch, The Market’s they’re trying to steal may by Crowded, Clubs Sandwiched in Metro Zones would likely to Struggle and never Relocate or Start a Team up on the Gold Coast and get shut down within a Few Years.

Written by News Corp, that bias rag

Hopefully it will increase attendances. The next couple of years will probably be a bit difficult with most games being played at Kogarah, if they can get through that in reasonable financial shape, I think they will only grow from there.
