Not a good week to be a New South Welshman…
Beaten by QLD 2 nights in a row
Well done QLD winning the Women’s Origin 18-10.

I’m just stating what the rest of the world thinks. Australia is the year 7 kid on their first day in a 2,000 overfilled capacity high school called Planet Earth.
Yes, I am a miserable c**t. But I’m a miserable correct c****t.
You’re not wrong on this point. We’ll always be the little fish in a gigantic pond, to quote the usual cliche when one enters high school from Yr 6.
But I like being the little fish most of the time. The only places I’d rather be are the South Island of NZ*** and perhaps the Nordic countries, as both places are less vulnerable to climate change than us.
***The North Island has copped too many AGW fuelled floods for my liking.
Of course this has nothing to do with rugby league, so…
Well, THAT was a close one for the Raiders!
After leading the Wests Tigers 18-0 with 13 minutes to go, the Tigers put on THREE unanswered converted tries in the space of just 4 minutes to draw level, and then Luke Brooks snatched the lead with a 75th minute field goal to put the Tigers ahead 19-18.
Alas for Tigers fans, Jamal Fogarty slotted a 78th minute penalty goal to get the lead back for the final time and take the win in a very close one, 20-19.
Tigers choked. Par for the course.
Bellamy is past it, and so is half our list. Diabolical.
I have a feeling next year will be his final year as coach. Some of the players have absolutely no defence.
Wow, it’s a long time since I’ve seen the Storm had that many points put on them.
That loss will put their for and against points differential into the minus… Unthinkable a couple of years ago when they were scoring 700 points a season etc scoring nearly twice as many points as they conceded.
Also odd that even with a minus for/against, they are still in 5th spot… The ladder is looking very congested still.
Well, with Nathan Cleary set to miss the remainder of the Origin (after doing his hammy last night against the Dragons), it creates quite the conundrum for selectors with the NSW halves pairing.
Will they keep Luai, and partner him with Nicho Hynes?
Or go with a new pairing like Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds who have played together at Souths?
This will probably mean Tedesco will keep his spot, as they won’t want to make too many changes.
Queensland Greats announced for 2023 - Ministerial Media Statements.
Mr Steve Renouf, ‘The Pearl’ was honoured as a Queensland great this year.
Steve Renouf is a Gunggari and Gubbi Gubbi man who has contributed to Queensland in many ways. During his rugby league career, Steve starred for the Brisbane Broncos and represented Queensland and Australia as an electric try-scoring centre.
Steve’s profile as a successful Aboriginal player means he has been an inspirational role model and mentor for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people for most of his adult life. Upon retirement, Steve was a guiding force behind the Queensland Government’s statewide Get Active health, well-being and sport program, a legacy project of the 2000 Olympic Games.
Steve has also lead Aurizon Rail’s Indigenous employment strategy, been an ambassador for the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health, led the roll-out of the highly effective Deadly Choices preventative health strategy, worked with the federal government as Co-Chair of their Medicine Safety Committee and been a strong public advocate for better understanding and health care for people living with Type 1 diabetes.
The right move I think, and to be consistent with other players who have been stood down pending court matters in recent seasons.
I was surprised Parramatta named him to play in the first place.
Well @yellow_sock will be one very happy and relieved Dragons supporter right now!
St George Illawarra looked to have it all sown up at 36-14 with 4 minutes to go against South Sydney before THREE Rabbitohs tries in three minutes brought the score back to 36-30 with 1 minute left! The Dragons hung on, phew!
I was at the game. I just got home.
With 5 minutes to go, ,i along others on tbe hill, were over the moon, going craxy. Then boom, 3 tries in 3 minutes to Souths made us shut up. The full time siren couldnt have any quicker. Lol
Very relieved Dragons fan here.
Well, I thought the Knights had that game won at 20-12, but two late tries to the Broncos got them the game 24-20.
Though the Knights were the better team for most of the match, the Broncos found the gaps and tries when it mattered to get the last 2 tries.
Had South Sydney scored 4 tries and had them converted. We would had seen one of the biggest chokes in not just NRL History, but in the world of sport knowing the time left on the clock was 4 minutes remaining with the Dragons leading by 22 and we would be seeing 36-14 memes across the internet.
Four tries in four minutes… I doubt that’s ever been done before!
But Souths came very close to doing just that tonight!
…
No Cleary, no problem… Penrith piled on more pain for the clueless Chooks in the late game running out 30-6 winners.
And more Origin selection headaches for Blues coach Freddy Fittler with Penrith and NSW player Liam Martin suffering a Grade 1 concussion, meaning an 11 day stand down period… with Origin II 11 days away…
NSW have named their team for Origin II
Four changes from Origin I
To be honest, I can’t see NSW winning the 2nd game with this team up in Brisbane.
What did Nicho do to hurt Fittler?
I know Saturday’s game was a blowout, but it’s such a bizarre omission.
