Craig Bellamy will continue to be Melbourne Storm coach next year.

Whilst that’s great news for the Storm, I do hope they have some succession plan in place for 2025 and beyond.

He (and Wayne Bennett) are the 2 best coaches I’ve ever seen in the game by a fair margin … Jack Gibson isn’t too far behind though.

While Craig Bellamy has signed with the Storm for another year, there are talks that Dragos coach - Anthony Griffiths - is on the firing line, as of tomorrow…

I heard that too.
So ‘Hook’ is being ‘hooked’ so it seems.

Will be interesting to see who replaces him short and long term.

No idea who’ll replace him in the short term.

Jason Ryles name has been popping up today. He is a former Dragons player, who became Assistant Coach for the Storm (under Bellamy) from 2016 until 2021. The last year and a half, he has been at the Roosters as their Assistant Coach. But most online have been saying that he the person to coach the Storm once Bellamy retires. So who knows who’ll coach the Dragons?

I thought I heard somewhere that the Roosters were reluctant to release Jason Ryles.

They’ve lost a few good assistant coaches in the last few years (Adam O’Brien to Newcastle and Craig Fitzgibbon to Cronulla) - not that the Chooks get any sympathy from me on that!

I propose @Radiohead become the new Dragons coach. For the lolz.

It is with great joy that I announce @ElCapitanCranky as my first signing for the Dragons. I will love watching him train .
And he’ll play at hooker for not very much money.

I’m not that kind of hooker.

Rugby League is searching for a new host for the 2025 World Cup after French organisers withdrew, citing financial issues.

Australia and New Zealand are being mooted as possible hosts, perhaps jointly, though likely with a delay to 2026.

Griffin was sacked this morning, with assistant Ryan Carr appointed interim coach while the club begins the search for a full-time replacement.

Brisbane Tigers launching a $25 million bid to be the NRL’s 18th team

They would have to change their name, no?

Obviously since there is already Wests Tigers in the NRL.

Speaking of which, Balmain Tigers had labelled the bombshell news of Blue Wiggle Anthony Field wanting to buy the Wests Tigers as “fanciful and unrealistic”. It came after Field’s suggestion last week that if the Wiggles were sold in the next 5-10 years and he had some cash, he would buy Balmain out of Wests Tigers JV.

Yeah, i don’t think this will happen.

I still think Perth is most likely as the 18th team… will allow for up to 3 games a week in different time zones which I think will appeal to broadcasters.

Perfect opportunity for a Pacific Rugby League World Cup with games hosted in PNG, Samoa, Tonga and Fiji

Not sure that they’ve got suitable venues for it.

They could probably do it to make the existing stands bigger. Even if they did it as a temporary thing. I’ve seen some of the grounds in Fiji, Png and Tonga and with some of these grounds, it would be possible on a smaller scale.

The “blue” print
