Adam Reynold’s usually reliable right boot cost South Sydney a chance at extra time, at first missing the conversion of Alex Johnston’s try in the corner, and then at a 2 point field goal in the last minute of play.
Well done to Penrith, just a few errors at the wrong moments cost Souths in the end.
If only Souths managed to get that two pointer after their last try, we probably would’ve seen the game go into extra time. Oh well, that’s history now.
Congratulations to Penrith Panthers fans who’s team have won their first NRL premiership in 18 years. Now to put that into perspective this forum would understand, most Panthers fans (of those who were around in 2003!) probably would’ve seen their last Grand Final win via a broadcast of 4.3 analogue television. Tonight they would’ve been watching in digital widescreen and hopefully, HD.
Sunrise reporting this morning that Wayne Bennett will coach the Redcliffe Dolphins in 2023 and they will be the extra Brisbane team in NRL competition.
That’s what I thought, but you’d think they could upgrade with some of their “$100 Million”. They say they would be the “richest League team in the world” or something, but wouldn’t play in their own stadium?
Walsh was handed a $5,000 fine and two-match suspension while Smith, Munster, and Lewis have been given one-match bans and varying fines after footage emerged that appeared to show them with a white powder substance.
Munster was fined $30,000 and Smith $15,000, with Lewis copping a $4,000 fine.
All three players, along with Walsh, are also required to complete education and training as directed by the NRL.
UPDATE: the Storm have also imposed additional sanctions on Smith, Munster and Lewis, including heavy suspended fines plus Munster stood down from the leadership group and observing a 12-month alcohol ban.
