Rugby League World Cup 2017

First time Seven showed a post-match press conference of RLWC after Australia’s biggest win over France tonight. It was not shown last Friday after the Kangaroos beat England.

ebroadcast and Yahoo7 guides both have the match replayed at 9.30pm AEDT, but the on-screen graphics during tonight’s telecast says it will be on at 11.30pm.

It came on around 10:30pm

Would assume Glen Larmer and the team for the NZ/Scotland game, with Ken Laban on the Samoa/Tonga game. Andrew Moore on the England game i guess.

Mark Braybrook for the England Lebanon game.

RLWC last night (7mate) beat Star Wars (main channel) in Sydney, wow.

I think Seven should consider moving some scheduled Saturday games to main channel in Sydney and Brisbane now?

Btw, 7mate’s share even bigger, so much so that the channel was 1% off beating the whole of Network Ten :open_mouth: Good God.

But overall, if the rlwc was on 7, network ratings would be lower.

Maybe.

But despite lots of positivity on social media about Star Wars + Jurassic Park double, Seven’s main channel was on par with last Saturday.

Probably due to competiton from ABC dramas and Harry Potter (though still 110k ahead of the latter).

But RLWC has been a big success for Seven, just something they could consider if they want bigger total people figures.

Next Saturday night’s game between Australia and Lebanon will be on the main channel in Sydney and Brisbane.

Yes, but coincidental.

I even mean non-Australia matches.

The 2013 edition was shown on 7mate in its entirety not on the main channel

I seem to recall there being quite a few complaints from people who couldn’t receive 7mate for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup coverage, probably why Seven is running at least some main channel coverage (in some markets) this time around!

Speaking of Network Ten, all three RLWC games rated significantly better than what the A-League got on One

Not surprised given the A league is on a minor channel and not exclusive. FFA are kidding themselves that anything other than exclusive free to air will build their product.

From the BBC highlights program.

Shouldn’t Seven showed the RLWC on the main channel instead of Star Wars?

Only reason they didn’t was because of the Star Wars marathon - for network / ratings purposes.

It’s probably also surprised Seven how well RLWC has rated, even on 7mate.
